What software comes pre-loaded on this laptop? Can I order it to come with windows 7 instead of windows 8?

You could ask Gigabyte if they ship with W7, but I doubt it.

I am a skeptic about Microsoft and Windows, but I don't find any problem with running W8.1. The tablet-oriented features do not cause a problem, and things can be adjusted so that, in practical terms, it works very much like W7.

Gigabyte provides some utilities for the camera and sound capabilities -- they are completely undocumented, and I am probably missing some useful information on them, but they are usable. Has Acrobat Reader. I installed Acrobat Pro, but Reader has a problem with uninstallation.

Has a good array of Microsoft utilities. I may not use them all, but I just left them. Microsoft Office starter is installed. I could not uninstall it without getting a utility from Microsoft. I never launched the program, so I don't know what you might learn from that process, but Windows doesn't tell you why it will not uninstall. You need to do a search on uninstallation and it is easy to find -- I suppose they are trying to inhibit uninstallation and maybe also tracking those who do it.
