Is the keyboard backlit?

Yes and brightness can be adjusted via f7 key.  Unfortunately the key face are silver plastic with white back light so hard to see if overhead light bounces off them.  Very nice in dim to dark room.

Is the SATA ribbon cable included in the laptop to install a 2.5" SATA drive? If not, can it be purchased from ASUS? or where?

Hello,

Laptops typically do not use SATA cables to connect storage drives, laptops usually have a slot that have both the SATA data and power connections so you can slot the drive in (kind of like you would the memory).  Some laptops also use a caddie to achieve this, I would contact Asus to confirm what method they use.  Hope this helps!
