Question 1

Can this be upgraded to Windows 8?

Accepted Answer

Dear fellow Newegg customer. The software on this laptop can be upgraded to Windows 8 but it probably doesn't make sense to do it. That's because the display is not a touch screen.

In my mind, there is about a $200 premium to buy a Windows 8 laptop due to the more expensive display. So I'd prefer to put that money into a better processor and more memory and simply use Windows 7. Windows 7 is a fantastic operating system. I believe Windows 8 makes more sense for a Tablet or phone...but not something that has keys and touch pad.

Hope this helps.

Question 2

Does this come with a 32-bit or 64-bit windows OS?

Accepted Answer

The computer I received shipped with the 64-bit version of Windows 7 pre-installed. DVDs for both 64 & 32 bit versions of Windows 7 were included.

Question 3

Does this computer have a backlit keyboard?

Accepted Answer

No it does not have a backlit keyboard but the keyboard has a great touch/feel. I really like the laptop.

Question 4

Does this have a physical volume control (like a knob, wheel, button)?

Accepted Answer

There is a dedicated mute button with LED indicator. Pressing the button toggles sound on/off and displays the current volume level on screen. However, you can cannot change the volume level up/down using the mute button, only on/off. Instead, to change the volume level using a button, you have to hold the Function key (Fn) and F6 (volume down) or F7 (volume up).

Question 5

Hi, Can I have you add RAM to this computer to keep the warranty in place?
Thanks,,

Accepted Answer

There is no "warranty void if removed" sticker deterring access to the RAM modules, if that is what you are asking.
