what does (with win 8 pro license) mean? is windows 7 installed and ready to use?

Correct. Windows 7 is installed from the factory but the laptop ships with two separate sets of disks. One set is for Windows 7 and the other one is for windows 8 (maybe 8.1, if not you get a free upgrade from windows) both sets come with an OS disk and a drivers disk and some free software that I never use. There is no license key anymore, it is embedded into the bios now so you must use the factory HP disks to install an OS unless you have a separate product key.

No, it comes with a 500GB 5400RPM SATA HDD, however you can upgrade to a SSD if you wish to do so.

I don't know what that means.  I've got a "wireless" router provided by my service so can use the computer anywhere in the house without being connected.  Not sure if that answers your question or not.  I just had to call our phone company to go thru a few steps to get connected.

The screen size is 15.6 on the diagonal.  This makes it smaller than a 17-inch monitor but bigger than the old 15-inch.
