this notebook use ddr4 or ddr3?

DDR4 2133. It is mentioned in the specifications.

How long does the battery life last when running just a web browser and maybe Word? And is it terrible to carry this around? I am also considering this for college. (I'm going into engineering, and thus, I need a strong laptop that will last me a long time.)

Don't worry about battery life, it's great. Should last you about 7-8 hours on light work and 6+ hours on video playback. I won't say it's 'terrible' to carry this around but it's heavier than its counterparts. My laptop weighs 2.8 KG and it feels heavy. This one is 3.2 KG with a heavier power brick. However, all that weight isn't for nothing. It utilizes anodised aluminium to protect the screen and feels sturdy all around. It will definitely last you long. Go get it.

Can I have 128 ssd also?

There is no configuration that allows you to get a 128 GB SSD, however, you can buy one and install it on your own. It allows easy access to its m.2 slots where you can insert the SSD. If you are willing to spend more dollars, you can also get one preconfigured with a 256 GB SSD, 6700 HQ processor, and a 970m GPU.
