When plugged in the keys light up. I am sure with battery options the keys could light up as well. It is nice to have the keys glow. Makes it easier to see.

No, but that really helps the weight, this is an awesome machine.  I just got done getting everything setup on it (it is my Mom's), and if you need a dvd drive, an external one can be had for about $30-$40 dollars.  Unless you will be watching movies, etc, you really don't need one.  For example, Office 2013 is installed via the internet.

I am currently setting mine up. I can't find a way to click using the touch pad bottom corners or even double tapping the pad. Does this laptop not have a clicking feature? Or is mine just defective?

The touch pad does have a left and right click for the bottom corner. Make sure you have them enabled. (Hint: If your touchpad is working as a mouse, it's enabled). If this is still not working, I suggest you contact the carrier to have it replaced.

If you don't want to do that, you can always check for updated drivers, or simply plug in a usb mouse to one of the ports.

What kind of software comes pre-loaded in it, especially if there isn't any kind of cd/dvd drive?  Does it have Microsoft Office is my main concern???

It does have MS Office but only a trial version of it. Nowadays software can be more easily obtainable from downloading from the internet than actual disc-based installation.

is this a good laptop for gaming? , specifically skyrim fallout 3 and fallout new vegas. all of them are on steam.

Yes, the 840m can handle most games on at least medium graphics.

No, it does not have a CD player. If you need one, your best bet is probably to get a USB external CD player.

Anyone else having trouble with the Fn key? It's kind of annoying not being able to control the volume and brightness from the keyboard. I've been searching the message boards and there seem to be many other Acer computers with this problem, but I don't see any real solutions out there. Anyone hear of a fix?

Are you holding the Fn key while pressing the other one's? tapping it while pushing the shortcut key won't work very well, also ensure that Acer Launch Manager program/service is properly running as this is the software that controls keyboard shortcuts. Volume is controlled by holding the "Fn" key and pushing "Uparrow" for Vol up, "Downarrow" for Vol Down.

It's a 5400 RPM Toshiba mq01abd100. It's very fast for a 5400 RPM drive, and uses the SATA 3G/s interface rather than ATA/100 or ATA/66. According to HD Tune I'm getting between 80 MB/s and 120MB/s transfer rate on the read test.

When is this product coming out? It keeps getting delayed. If anyone knows any information please tell me. I'm afraid I might have to go with another laptop if this keeps on being delayed.

To be honest I would just go with another product. This looks promising, I had it on pre order for over a month back when the release date was set to be Feb 3. I was highly disappointed when it jumped to the 20th of Feb, so I canceled my pre order and bought upgrade parts for my desktop instead. With how much this is being delayed it is looking less and less promising.

Could I replace the 1TB HDD with a SSD of equal size or smaller?

The drive that I received installed in my laptop is the Toshiba MQ01ABD100. It's for sale here on newegg and it's listed as a 9.5mm unit. Some SSDs are 7.5mm these days, I'm not sure if there's a problem putting a thinner disk in this thing than the stock version as I haven't opened up my laptop to see how the drive is installed.
