Question 1

How loud are the fans, and do they run much when not gaming? I ask because I plan to use this for school as well, and don't want to sound like a jet taking off in class.

while running i personally do not hear them. the speed of the fans can be controlled by the PredatoSense application and I leave it on auto.

During gaming, I mostly play CSGO and Civilization these days, the fan do go on 'high' and get somewhat loud but nothing too distracting or annoying IMO.

I'm a Comp Sci student and I wouldnt have any concerns about playing games or regular use on campus

Does this come with the power cable, user manual, etc?

Mine came in a brown box with just the power cable and a refurbished warranty statement. The manual can usually be downloaded off their site however.

Unfortunately it didn't include a hard drive caddy or the plug to hook up a new storage device either. That has to be purchased separately so keep that in mind if you plan on adding a new solid state/hard drive.

Does the laptop come with the SATA CABLE and the HDD caddy?

No. If you get it new, I believe the manufacturer will provide at least the mount for another hard drive if you call them and request it, but not so much on the recertified one.

What is its battery life?

As someone who's had it for about 6 months, I can say its batter life is... Okay. I've had times where I was barely using the processor and it lasted 5 hours, but if you're gaming or its under a heavy load you can expect anywhere from 50 minutes to an hour and a half. IMO, still worth it. Cheers!

I'm a little confused. Does the refurbished unit come with a SSD or HDD? The specs say SSD but one of the questions makes it seem like it's not solid state. I'm a bit of a computer noob, sorry.

It comes with a 256GB M.2 SSD with an extra 2.5' drive bay for another HDD however yours may not come with the mounting bracket for the extra bay. Mine did but i've seen on some of these models that it doesn't come with one.

Serous users ay. I am a programmer that has used every rendition of windows. If you want the best go XP, but to answer your question yes. Windows 7 is still supported so it works with all the newest hardware there is, but personal preference is windows 10 prof, Lets you turn off all the annoying things from windows 7, making it more a fancy windows xp with a program searcher.

Can the refurbished unit have scratches or anything like that? Is it open box?
