Question 1

I don't have my motherboard (EVGA P55 FTW) in front of me, but I need to know if it supports a 4 pin fan. Do all motherboards support three and four pin connectors or is it probably one or the other?

I believe the fourth pin is for PWM (pulse width modulation) functionality to allow greater control of the fan speed. That being said, most newer/fancier motherboard seem to have four pins, so they can offer more than high medium, low speed control. I'm thinking it would make sense for the cpu connectors to have four pins, even if the others don't.

Regardless, if you can plug it in, it should work.

If it happens you only have three pin connectors, you should be able to plug in a four pin connector on a motherboard. If I remember correctly, it is usually just 3 pins sticking out, with a little piece of plastic on the long side so you don't plug it in backwards. In that case, plugging in a bigger 4 pin connector should work.

You might try looking up your mobo on newegg. I have to do that all the time.

One last note, I bought two of these fans to replace some noisy cpu fans. They needed to clip onto the fins of the heat spreader, and the provided screws were to large for the clips. Luckily my case (or the fan, I don't remember exactly) came with soft screws. With the help of a paperclip and about a half hour, I was able use them to secure the clips to the fan and i haven't had a problem since.

The point is, it wasn't a drop in replacement for my cpu fans. The shape of the fan is also a bit weird, not the standard plastic square. If you just need it for a case fan, you'll probably be fine.

Question 2

I'm looking to replace my Hyper 212 Evo fan because this is the only one that moves as much/more air. Will it connect directly to the clips on that for a push setup? Or will I need different screws? Will I need to buy new screws?

I don't know how the Hyper 212 Evo fan is mounted, so I don't know if this one will fit in the same clips.  I used it to replace a case fan that was noisy.  It fit the mounting holes perfectly and had adapters so it connected easily to the power connector.  It comes with screws to mount it in a case.

Question 3

i have a 4 pin connector on my mb (asrock z97m oc formula).  i have a Y-cable splitter that is 4 pins.  i would like to run two of these fans in a push/pull on my cpu heat sink.  do you see any problem with running this configuration?  will there be too much "demand" on the single 4 pin mb connector?

It should be fine as long as your power supply can output the wattage. The fans can also run on a 3 pin connector too and you can just change the way they face for airflow direction. Just make sure you watch the static pressure in your case. These fans are comparable to jet engines with fan speeds if you crank them up. Hope that helps!

Question 4

What type of screw can be used to attach a grill to one of these fans? I've seen a youtube video where the guy holds up one of the supplied screws and it looks nothing like any i have used in the past with fans.

So I bought this fan to replace a busted fan on my CPU cooler. I know for certain that I did not have to buy any extra screws, and that this installed onto the cooler without any issue.

The fan either came with its own standard screws, or I used the standard screws that were in the old fan that I replaced. In either case, standard case fan screws should work.

Question 5

Which one has higher static pressure, this cooler master jetflo 120 fan or the corsair sp120 high performance pwm fan?

My understanding of static air pressure, is the air that not moving in the case. The only difference is the pressure outside and inside will be different. The difference without looking at the fans, I would assume the amount of air they can move. The more air you move out of the case the cooler the system will be and how many fans do you have? Do you have intake and output ? :)

That is meaningless in this size fan unfortunately, like I have said before most specs are useless and trial and error seem to be the only thing that works. What I have noticed is cfm along with fan speed and size seem to be a pretty good place to start.
