what is the overall height for the unit i can only find the resevoir height?

l can't measure exactly but pretty close to 11.75" so the listing of 309.7mm would appear to be the combined height of the reservoir and pump. The actual reservoir is no more that 210mm

What is the mod part they are talking about?

It's the silent kit which in reality is the metal cover around the pump. It reduces the pumps noise level but offers more of a cosmetic improvement I'm guessing.
