Question 1

I have a Silenx Effizio Quiet Case fan that spins at 1100RPM. I know this fan controller can lower the speed, but can it also increase the fan speed above its rated RPM? I need more airflow from this fan. Thanks.

As a general rule, fan controllers are not capable of doing that as they just move current over a progressively larger portion of a resistor in order to decrease the power. If the fan you have does not move enough air, your best bet is probably to purchase a new fan which does.

Question 2

Can this be used to turn a fan completely off?  I have a Vcore fan that is obscenely loud and its a pain to unplug and plug it whenever I need it.

Well the lowest setting on this controller still has the fan running at a reasonably slow speed so, no. But I don't know of anyone who keeps a  manual fan controller outside of their case. I havn't done much research on it but maybe a wireless controller with an external remote would be good for you?

Never used Fan controller before so my Q's may be dumb. Is this controller control more than one case fan (120mm or 140mm) or multi- case fans? Thanks

Yes, but you need to connect the fan wires together inside the case. You can buy additional wires to do this. I am controlling 2 Fans with this switch.

This product is rated for 6 Watts. That's 0.5 Amps at 12 Volts. Some larger high-speed fans alone draw more than 0.5 Amps at 12 Volts and therefore would NOT be compatible with the ZALMAN FAN MATE 2 controller.  Read the specifications of the fan(s) you're connecting to the controller, add their maximum current draw and ensure that the total is less than 0.5 Amps at 12 Volts.

I want to use this controller and a 3 pin fan outside of a computer.
If I connect a 12V Power Supply to proper pins on header cable of the speed controller, will it still control the fan speed?

Yes, I used these in a custom built solar enclosure off 12V leads to slow down a fan to reduce power drain. Works great.

Question 6

I have one of these but I need the right cable/connector. I bought a fan cable extension but the connector is too big. Where can I get a replacement cable?

Interesting. I did not bother trying to get a replacement: i just took a knife and shears and cut off the side of the packaged connector so i could fit my 4-pin fan into it. Probably isn't your problem, sorry can't be of more help.

Does this work with all case fan headers?

It should. It works with all 3-pin fan headers.

Question 8

Should work good even with 2 pin PSU fans? My PSU never gets hot thanks to very healthy case cooling but the load will spin it up regardless of temperature and it gets loud.

that's an outside attemp to put fan control on PSU but technically the zalman fan mate could do it so Yes
