Q: There's a gap between my heatsink and this fan, because of heatsink's design. Should I return this product? Will it cool properly?

Sorry about the delay, but we're in Europe currently and Yes, there is also a gap in mine,...because I have an Nvida card, which normally has a W shaped heat-sink,...., but it worked great, as we had an Antec SLI HTPC case, and the card closest to the separating wall also was in a dead-end like hallway also, got hot, like 192F,...and so we bought this, and it plugged into the MB fan controller 3-pin, and the temp dropped to like 132F max, in Ultra BF4, Crysis3, etc,....so, don't worry it will work,...however, also FYI, it is slightly louder, being open with 2 fans (but that why it does such a better job, I suppose), than the other Nvidia card, with the factory cooler, which was OK, but is now about 15 degrees hotter than this one, even though it get plenty of air, and also is open to exhaust any excess heat, but the dark-pink Evercool, seems to throw heat clear of any restrictions,...and keeps everything nice and cool! My video card has 4 pin header, is this compatible?

Not compatible, you must plug into a mobo fan socket. However if you are feeling brave you can cut off the head and splice the individual cables onto a spare 4 pin socket head and plug into the GPU. I did this on mine and fan control worked. I would not recommend it if you don't know what your doing. At the very least it voids your warranty.

Will this cool an Nvidia 4000 GPU?

As an answer, we are using this  EVERCOOL with a Nvidia 460 GTX SC, in an Antec Fusion media-center in SLI, and bought this since the outer card had little room and was getting too hot in Battlefield4.

The temps went from 186F, to 136F at peak load, so the cooling is much greater than the Nvidia reference fans, however its open design is slightly louder at full load.

Also FYI - Due to the W-shape of the Nvidia heat sink, we tie wrapped the Evercool fan onto the heat sink, which looks good since the copper heat pipes are exposed. And, plugged the 3 pin power into a PWM header on the ASUS motherboard.

Also, for your information we have a single fan Arctic Cooling unit with their heat sink, for three $ more on a HD6970, and this product deeply cools without any audible noise, at full load.

I would not use this cooling fan for your card. This fan does not come with a heatsink, it is the fans only. The new fans will have to sit on top or your old heatsink and the way most cards are made, the heatsink is custom made to have the original fan fit inside it perfectly. The fact your card is overclocked means it will be generating even more heat than regular and needs excellent cooling. I know it hurts to hear but your better off buying a heatsink/fan combo (more expensive). This will allow you to remove both your old fan and heatsink from the card and replace with a heatsink/fan combo designed to work together. Ive had luck with combos in the $40-$60 range on new egg(Artic brand preferred) but I dont have experience with overclocked cards, so cant recommend a specific one.

The replacement fan has adjustable fingers that I believe will grip the card you specified (if not you can use a zip tie on one end like I did, works fine). However you should note the card appears to use a heatsink with indentations for the fans to seat down inside. The replacement fan is flat and will simply sit on top of the heatsink, meaning the cooling ability will be SEVERELY limited. This also means the card width will be almost doubled so be sure you have room.

Will it hold to the card? I have to say yes (even if you have to zip tie one end around the card), but I have to suggest purchasing a HEATSINK WITH FAN replacement system and swapping out both. I just dont think this fan will cool your card under load.

To Answer-We used this fan for a Reference Nvidia 460GTX, that we received from Nvidia at QuakeCon for answering a question, when Tom Peterson was speaking (and wanted to keep it!!, (and that means cool running),... and also, bought another for SLI in an Antec Fusion Max HTPC,...and when we overclocked both for Battlefield4 with an ASUS M5A-99X PRO MB and a new AMD8320 with Corsair Vengence (8GB @1833GHz),...we would get temps up to 215F!!:-( in the card nearest the partition (same problem with the second clearance, against the first card-Not enough room for good airflow, with a dead end "hallway" effect).

So, ordered this Evercool Fan, and the temps dropped to  <134 to 149F (Max ever!), and Voila!

Fixed.

However, FYI, we also removed the entire Nvidia shroud and old fan, and then because it also has a W-shape to the heatsink, just tie-wrapped (discretely) the Evercool fan onto the copper heatpipes (partly to save the old shroud and fan and spare the Dremel). Also btw, the cage and fanguard are metal construction (kudos) and so looks good! and have all the clearance and cooling needed,..and its really quiet too!

Also, FTR - Had to put an ear next to it and shine a light into the cage to see if running-Also, BTW, the fan is protected front and back-important because had a lot of wires cutting around the end of this card due to the HTPC case.

Maximum Happy - and considering buying another for the second card, because cools/works so well, and also because then they would match! :-)
