Question 1

I have a pavilion a630n hp and the heatsink fan has a 4 prong female plug. this  is a 3prong. does it also come with a 4 prong?

Hi, I have used this HSF for a recent LGA-775 build.It comes with a three-pin female connector for a three-pin male  connector on the motherboard. I put one of these on an HP Pavillion with a Pentium IV awhile back and the three-pin fan connector  worked so the fan ran at full speed without  speed control( that's what the extra pin is for). I aligned the fan plug with the corresponding connector on the motherboard and used the first three pins Left->right for the new fan connector. You might have to move the connector around a bit(with power off) to get it to work. You will have an extra pin hanging out there by itself, but as long as it works, you should be fine. These Masscool HSF's work great( super-quiet) once installed.Please do not forget to apply thermal paste before installation and power-up.

So i am building a gaming pc (first time) and im getting a Intel Core i3-3240 Ivy Bridge Dual core. i had heard that intel processors come with their own fans, yet they dont meet standards for when you are low to medium gaming. so should i get this fan?, if not what should i be looking at.

How much to tighten the  four mounting screws?

Tighten until the screw mates up with the female threaded posts in the backplate. So long as the springs aren't fully compressed you are good. Always do a turn or two then move in a diagonal to the next screw. Don't romp one screw down at a time! (X is your pattern.)
