Does this refurbished unit come with thermal paste? I have a new pc parts on the way and wondered if I need to order any.

My unit came with the thermal paste, but I would still order some if you have none laying around. Refurbished units across all spectrums will vary. I would also check the box when you get it, it seems to me with these and other aio CPU coolers people have been able to find leaks in the packaging somewhere, which seems to be the most common indicator for the unit being doa. Mine had no such issues, but you don't want to find out about a leak post-build.

It depends on what cpu type you have the H50 on.

The CPU motherboard bracket on the H80i does not fit in the 775 motherboard holes.

But if your H50 is working fine in a 775 motherboard, you should be able to reuse the H50 motherboard bracket and then attach the H80i to it.  I did this successfully on my 775 motherboard - I replaced an H60 with an H80i by keeping the H60 motherboard bracket screwed into the motherboard and just attaching it to the H80i.  It fit perfectly.

You could also just order a replacement motherboard bracket setup directly from Corsair for the H60.  (Especially if your H50 is going into another pc.)

This is refurbished...what why of garentee does newegg offer that it wont explode or something all over my MoBo? what are typically wrong with these products that require refurbishment? Does it come with all the parts that originally accompanied the new H80i?

I just got this a month ago, and when it came in, I could swear it was brand new, everything was there, they even re-sealed all the packaging, all parts looked brand new, thermal paste came pre-applied. I would highly recommend this but now its soldout! It runs my system so cool! At 1.4vcore i never got over 75*c with Prime95. All the parts are there, nothing typically goes wrong, but most people upgrade, or just go for different options, AIC coolers are very low-maintnence and unless you plan on overclocking over 6ghz+ with absurd voltages that will fry your chip, they will work fine. Also, the rubber on these tubes   are hardcore unless you scrape them on very sharp corners or have them touching another fan you will be fine. Word of caution. DO NOT MOUNT THE FANS BACKWARDS YOU WILL OVERHEAT VERY FAST EVEN IN THE BIOS.  Also make sure your case is big enough for this, I had to move my GFX card to have enough room in my Gigabyte Luxo M30, but they are kind of backwards anyways.

I was thinking about buying this, but I'm kind of iffy since its refurbished. If I buy this, then would I have any problems with leaks or bad pumps or anything like that?

The only way to be 100% certain you wont have a leaks is to go with an air cooling solution. I've had a refurb for about a week with no problems. These might have been refurb for leaks or bad fans or bad pumps - so, who knows. Mine looked like it could have been brand new. Someone else made the same comment. So, it seems reasonable to to expect they made good effort make them as close to new as possible.

My only real concern would be a leak that damaged other components. A bad pump wouldn't be much more catastrophic than a bad fan in an air cooled system.

Don't think so. You pretty much need a bottom mounted psu for any cooler kit. The h80i has a little hump on top of the radiator that would likely prevent you from mounting it. If you haven't purchased case get one with a bottom mounted psu and about one and a half to two inches clearance between the top of the fan to the top of the case.

I don't know, but Corsair or the listing details will have that answer.  If your CPU isn't listed in the CPU's it fits, it probably doesn't fit.  It works very well with my Intel 3770k.

What is the liquid inside the pumps is it really water or is it some type of special liquid solution or something?

What kind of temps can I expect from one of these? I was considering ordering a Coolmaster 212 Evo. How would this Corsair compare to one of these types of air coolers?

I dont necessarily need extremely low temps (although who doesn't want them, it would be nice). I'm running the stock intel cooler my cpu came with because my old Thermalright cooler, would not fit my new board.

My current temps are around 40-41 idle. I havent checked the temps at load, I would assume they're upwards of 50. I may overclock in the future, a few years down the road.

It really depends on your CPU load. If you aren't overclocking, stock coolers just fine as long as your CPU load don't go up above 70%.

The temps when you use H80i would be around 25-35 idle if you set the Rad fan around 30%. It should go up to 70 degrees at 100% cpu load (via prime95 tests). It really depends on what cpu it is though (AMD max is 70, intel is 80)

If you are going to buy this I would overclock like 5~10% and just increase the fan speed to around 70%. Just make sure your cpu stays around 50 degrees at overclocked, gonna be stable
