Better than stock Core 2 Duo heatsink?

From the minimal amount of research I did, it's not "better" it's maybe a slightly better build quality, but as far as performance goes it's nearly the same. I purchased this only because my stock cooler broke.

will this fit an LGA1151 socket cpu?

It should work just fine according to this:

"Alpine 11 PLUS is compatible with Intel Sockets 1150, 1151, 1155, 1156 and 775. "  from Arctic

"...any cooler that was compatible with LGA 1150, LGA 1155, or LGA 1156 will be compatible with the new LGA 1151." from Corsair

and

"Cooling solutions for sockets LGA 1151, 1150, 1155 and 1156 are interchangeable as they have the same distance of 75 mm between each screw hole." from Wikipedia

Does this come with hardware to mount it? One reviewer said he had to buy custom screws.

This fan  kit came with all necessary hardware  the only it I don't  if it was includes is the tube of heat sink paste to apply to the CPU and heat sink

This is a very quiet fan   Works great. No issues with heat

Is it compatible with Windows 10 because after installing my PC has been BSOD? Now I can no longer get past automatic repair.

CPU coolers are not OS dependent.  If it keeps it  cool, it doesn't matter what OS that you're running.The ARCTIC Alpine 11 Plus CPU Cooler is an inexpensive but efficient CPU cooler. There is another problem causing the BSOD, not the cooler.

Why does it say  "LGA 1156/1155/1150/775" in the description when this product is only for 1156/1155/775?

The 1150 socket has the same mounting holes as 1155/1156. You should have no problems using this cooler on an 1150.

Can this fan be put into a 1U server case?

It would likely be a tight fit in a 2U- I used this in a HTPC which it was a little too tall in but worked.

It's a good cooler though- you may be able to remove the fan and use a different style one next to the heatsink instead of ontop of it...
