Do the fans support PWM control?

No, they do not. The only way to control the fan speed is to buy an adapter that converts the connector to a 3 or 4 pin fan connector, then attach it directly to the motherboard and control the speed through the BIOS. You can also do this with a discrete fan controller.

Apart from that, I have no other caveats with the product. I've used this line on multiple GPUs from different vendors, and it's performed stunningly well. It's really down to whether you can tolerate the, frankly, very loud fans at 100% or are willing to do what I pointed out above. Even at something like a nearly inaudible 30% speed this cooler will perform better than most even non-reference coolers that are going the full 100.

So what's this thing fit? It's hard to believe Gelid Solutions expects us to buy it and find out it doesn't fit. I need a cooler. I'm just doing piece meal through the answers on a few AMD cards. It's gotta be more specific than "It'll fit if you got a reference card".

If you open the image gallery on the product and look at the last image with the cooler in the packaging, it lists all compatable cards. AMD: HD5830, 5850, 5870, 6850, 6870, 6950, 6970, 7850, 7870, 7950, and 7970. I have this cooler fitted on an R9 280 card as well.

Question 3

I have 3 sapphire 7950s and 1 xfx 7950. I installed this with 0 problems on the xfx, but on the sapphire card I tried the standoffs appear to be too tall. Namely, the copper protrusion on the base of the cooler does not touch the die (it gets close enough to pick up a little of the thermal paste. Has anybody else run into this problem?

Hmm, the die casting shouldn't be any different. Are you sure the heatsink on one of your ram chips isn't getting in the way? also maybe you don't have enough thermal paste :P

Would this fit the revised XFX DD Black edition 7970? The one that no longer had the bios switch and now has extra dvi port

Long answer short: Yes, it should fit. This is designed to fit many cards, including the 7970. One thing you should know: This fan was unable to be controlled via software when installed on the card (both plugged directly into the motherboard as well as plugged into the video card.) Also, the DD fans usually keep the card fairly cool.

Just a quick question
Would this fit on my evga gtx 560 ds ssc ?

Feels like I'm been around and around on looking up info trying to find a nice aftermaket cooler for my gpu. Still haven't found the right answer.

The manufacturer's website does not show your card in the compatibility list for this cooler.

The manufacturer does list your card, the 560 anyway, for this product, Rev. 2 ICY VISION (GC-VGA02-01.  The part number is different so make sure you get the right one.

what is the difference between GC-VGA02-01 and GC-VGA02-02? I have 2 290x graphic cards i want to put this on. Thanks!

Changes to the shape of the VRM heatsink to fit different cards. Huge drop in temps on the GPU. One is a straight line and the other is offset on the ends.
Either way I mildly cooked the VRMs on a 7970 running at 99-100% in a 99F garage mining cryptocurrency. Card runs but can not mine at all any more. Quiet and runs fine playing games still, so far anyway.

Cards will be darn close to one another and may touch if the PCIe slots are normally spaced, it is wider by about a 1/2 inch than my stock 280x's.

This aftermarket GPU heatsink/fan was designed for the HD and R9 series graphics cards from Radeon/AMD. Trying to fit this on the RX series would be a gamble, and to get proper heat dissapation you would need one designed for your specific model.
