Question 1

I am thinking of buying this to use in my classroom.  I want to record students reading aloud.  Could I plug this into a computer and record?

I would say that this mic would work well for your purposes, as long as the student doing the reading is close enough to the audio jack that the 3 ft cord won't inconvenience him/her too much. Otherwise you can get a longer extension cord, if you don't have one already.

I bought this mic when my headset's mic gave out. The extension cord and clip made it easy for me to just attach it to the end of my headset's boom. Thus I can say with confidence that this mic works well when placed within about 3 to 12 inches of the orator's mouth. Beyond that I have no experience.

If you'd prefer something a student won't have to clip to his/her shirt before reading, you might want to try looking at the kind of stationary desktop microphones with a stand.

Can this be used to plug into a Windows computer?

Yes it plugs into a standard microphone jack. Make sure its a powered jack, usually the ones on the back. Id also recommend an extension cord for it, as the cord it comes with is somewhat short, you can find them in various lengths, be sure to get one with a 3.5mm connector so it fits.

Hi Dirk W.  I don't know if this would work on mobile phones or not.  I use it on a desk top computer and TeamSpeak only.

My cell phone is not a smart phone; and I haven't turned it on since last April, nearly a year.
