Question 1

Haven't received the product yet but in reading the manual, it says to use the carrier sheet for each page that is wrinkled, folded or torn.  My clients bring me stacks of tax documents some of which have been folded or wrinkled, and many of which tear at the corner when I pull out the staples.  If I can't fax the whole stack as a package I'm in trouble.  Do I dare open the package when it arrives or should I just send it back?

I haven't put all that many miles on mine yet, but here's what I've encountered.   Folds don't seem to be much of a problem, and I doubt that a torn corner would either, especially if you place it on the trailing edge (no worry, it autorotates).

I'm using mine to convert some old books to electronic format, and it's fine (mostly) with paperbacks ... I've had issues with that kind of paper in 8-1/2" x 11" size, sometimes it just feeds in and goes crooked, wrinkling or tearing the trailing half.  Mostly you can just rescan that one page in one try, sometimes it take 2 or 3 passes.  I have yet to resort to the backer.

One other point to note; it does feed and read impressively quickly,  about 2 seconds per 2 sided page; BUT, at the end of the stack of 50 sheets, there's a "processing" time of about the same length.  So, scanning a 600 page book (6 batches of 50 sheets) takes closer to 20 minutes than 10.

does this scan to pdf?

This scanner is fantastic!  Yes, it does scan to pdf as one of the default settings. I have it set to scan both sides in pdf as black and white and it scans a stack of different size items extremely fast. It also senses if a sheet is upside down or 90 degrees off and rotates automatically.

This is the best scanner we have ever had. We love it. It's easy and very fast. My whole office is really pleased with it.

To answer your question, there is no ink. It is a scanner and copies documents to a file in your computer. There is no printing function so no ink is used.

Can this scanner scan documents like receipts, and, can it be setup to scan to a mapped drive on the local computer?

Hi,   I use the Fujitsu ScanSnap iX500 to completly create a paperless filing system.   I got tired of having receipts, and old Cell phone bills and bank statements that I had to keep track of for years and file away in a folder in a cabinet.

Yes,  it scans Receipts wonderfully !  The included software Scan Snap organizer,  gives you the opportunity to Place the Scanned Document in a specific Folder on a drive,  (as you inquired) or if you download the Free ScanSnap App on your mobile Device, it can scan (or save) directly to a tablet or smart phone or by creating a Specific Electronic filing Cabinet and Folder to store it in the default Organizer software directly to your PC.    So,  I was able to create the electronic version of a folder and file drawer on my hard drive using this software,   vs.  paperclipping each bill, receipt and invoice and making room in my filing cabinet for it.

The Scanner is Super fast and Fujitsu does a great job with hardware.  You will be very pleased.   Good Luck.

Does this model and bundle come with Adobe Acrobat X Standard?

My purchase did come with Adobe Acrobat X.

This is an excellent scanner. It is fast, will scan both sides of a document without  a problem.

There are some u-tube videos to explain the software which are very helpful.

Question 6

Is the "bundle" software useful, worth the extra $30???

I have an iMac but with a dual chip so could also use scanner on the Windows side if it really makes it better for some reason??

Definitely worth the extra $30.  We have 7 ScanSnaps in our office and we have bought the bundle every time.  I would personally never use another scanner.  Great product for the money.  We have also never had any issues with any scanners.  Oldest one is probably 3 yrs old and scans an avg of 250 pages per week.

yes it will scan photos and how well the result depends on what setting you have and size of final image you get being larger for better image and smaller for less sharp image

my memory is not that good. Ours is almost two years old. I believe it did, with this scanner but you only really need it while you set it up and hook up your network it is wireless.this is the third of this type of scanner so we are certainly fans
