Question 1

I would like to buy one of these to run XBMC in a home theater setup. Ideally, I'd like to run HDMI with audio and 720p video into an A/V receiver (Yamaha 1023k), and send HDMI video out to the projector. Does anyone have a similar setup and does it work well for you?

I had an issue when connecting a laptop this way whereby the projector would find the HDMI source for only a few seconds and then attempt to find a source again when the laptop sent HDMI video through the receiver first and then to the projector, rather than directly to the projector.

Just wanted to know if anyone else has a similar setup and if this box is functioning well in that setup.

I have the x7 mini and it works well. I have it run to an onkyo 605 receiver which feeds a 92 inch Mitsubishi tv and so far I'm happy with it. Resolution can be set up to 1080p which I need , but most video on the net is 720p or less. The is is android which I am still learning but works well and connects to my windows pc very easily through my network. Great little box for the money!   Hope this helps with your decision.

is this item upgradeable to android 4.4 and do you sell the rii 2.4ghz wireless dual side remote for this device?

It is with some caveats.  Minix regularly releases ROM's for it, check the forum that they regularly make announcements at (Google "Minix Forum".  There are also unofficial ROM's and rooting.  There currently is not official 4.4 ROM but this system will be upgradeable when they do release and official version.

Question 3

I see this elsewhere with a antenna (Dual-Band Antenna). But this one came without one.  Just wondering if a) this version has no antenna b) if so, can I buy one for it?

It still seems to function well w/o it.  I am not sure if i even saw a connector for it.  thanks in advance.

The Minix NEO X7 (not mini) has an external antenna with different hardware specs and an MSRP of $139.99.

This Minix NEO X7mini has internal antennae, no external antenna connector / pigtail, and an MSRP of $119.99.

a) This version has no external antenna.
b) To the best of my knowledge, you cannot buy one (unless there exists a USB WiFi adapter with antenna and android v4.2.2 driver support).

How easy is it to install a Linux OS such as Ubuntu? Any driver issues?
