Can you plug in 2 controllers?

I don't know, I've never tried it.  I only have the one controller.  I know most of the Super Nintendo games I have will support two players.  One using the keyboard and another using the controller. Two controllers "should" work for you.

Question 2

It's not working on my Mac. Do I need to download a driver?

I am on OSX 10.9 and I was able to simply plug-n-play. In Finder, go to 'About this Mac' --> 'More Info' --> USB. You should see it recognized as "2Axes 11Keys Game  Pad."

I also recommend Gamepad Companion, if you do any gaming on the Mac or use gamepads. It will allow you to see if it is recognized and what each button is mapped to. You have to purchase it in the App Store for like $7.99, but it is worth it. I also highly recommend OpenEmu for emulation. It is now available as a standalone install, no need to compile from source, and it works awesome for a ton of systems. Hope this helps!

How does this compare to the Buffalo classic gaming controller?

I dont know what the buffalo one is like but this one is super cheap, i feel like i could break it with 1 hand if i squeez it too hard. It functions just fine though.

Does this work with USB 3.0?

The ones that I received were the wrong ones. In spite of them claiming to use a USB connector, which was wrong, it had the original SNES connector I doubt that even if they used USB that these simple controller style would make much difference whether it was USB 1.0, 2.0, or 3.0, its just a small series of switches. Plus I suggest the the buyer beware and probably try a different brand.
