Faithfully replicating the Gibson X-Plorer guitar's futuristic styling of this classic design, this controller feels like the real thing. Its beauty is more than skin deep as it contains all of the features required to climb your way to rock stardom in Guitar Hero III. The X-Plorer is also one of the in-game guitars available to your character.
The controller's hard-rocking body style is only the beginning. The five color-coded frets on the neck are durable and responsive. The neck itself is small enough that you can easily wrap your fingers around it to reach them for some sweet shredding. The functional whammy bar is critical for in-game audio effects and the strum bar is bi-directional so you can not only belt out rapid-fire power chords, but you can flip the controller over for left-handed play. A D-Pad on the body lets you access and navigate the on-screen menus effortlessly.
In addition to the USB port, there are additional connectors to let you hook in a set of headphones – allowing you to rock out, without waking the neighbors. MIDI input and output ports expand its versatility and a foot pedal port also provides potential.
