can you take still shots?

Hello there and my apologies for the delay in replying to your question. The short answer is I don't know. I bought two of these as Christmas gifts so I haven't used this pen. I still have one right here that I haven't wrapped and I can tell you that under the Pen Specifications on the item's packaging, with regards to "Recording" it says "Manual or Continuous". I suppose that COULD mean you could manually take a still shot. I'm so sorry that I can't be of more help. ~~ Christine
