Can the cable be shortened?

There is NO reason why the cable cannot be shortened. But why do you want to do that? You may need a longer cable in the future. Theoretically, for the same type cable, a shorter length will be better as it will have less resistance which means it  will be easier for the current (amperes) to travel to the load (lamp).  According to newegg I purchased mine back in 2015  I installed it outdoors on a shed in the backyard and it still works.

How many lumens is light output?

I do not know the lumens but I ordered one of these for a friend for his fifth wheel trailer and it is so bright that it lights up the whole drive of his trailer space....I was so impressed that I bought one for my driveway....it is amazing...it is super bright LED. Nothing like the little solar lights you can buy for along your walks...it is a great buy and I highly recommend it.

Question 3

The picture in the product information shows a switch at the bottom of the light.  What does this switch do?  Does it turn the light on, turn the motion detector on, or what?  I ask because I want to mount a couple behind my detached garage so I can get some light back there when I need it.  But I also use my telescope back there and then a motion detector light would be a serious problem.  So if it can be turned off and on that would be great.

The switch turns the unit off and on. Light only comes on with the switch turned on and senses motion. Switch it off and you're good to go!
