Question 1

Are the two lights independently adjustable (side to side, up and down, etc.) or are they set in a fixed position?

Accepted Answer

They are independently and fully adjustable.  Just make sure you mount the device properly because the joints for all the rotations/adjustments are not strong enough to withstand impact.  They are not flimsy, by any means.  They are just not made for falling ;)

Question 2

How long will the battery last? or how many detections on a single charge?

Accepted Answer

Three 1300maH AA batteries at 1.2V each = 4.68 watt/hour of stored energy (when fully charged).  Theoretically, two 1-watt LEDS should run for slightly over 2 hours on fully charged batteries (though they would start to dim as the batteries run out of juice).  If each actuation lasted 30 seconds (I'm not sure how long it actually lasts), you should have over 200 actuations per charge.  Of course, there are other factors such as sun exposure, solar panel performance, battery quality, etc.  This is sort of best-case scenario.  I must say that mine was being triggered by every passing car before I realized I could swivel the motion sensor away from the road.  Even when every car triggered it, it still never seemed to run out of juice.  It's also worth mentioning the batteries are user-replaceable.

Question 3

Are the batteries accessible? Can they be cahanged out ? As, rechargeable batteries are great, but they don't last forever.

I have never changed them or even out of curiosity tried to reach them, myself.  However, there are a couple of easily accessible screws in the back, allowing you to remove the back panel of the device.  From what I have read, the batteries are directly behind that panel.

Question 4

How much sunlight does it take a day to recharge?
We live in the forest lots of tall trees we get maybe 4-5 hrs
of sunlight in one spot

I have 2 RSL-113s sitting in flower beds 3 feet in front of my 2 story west-facing house so they only get sun from noontime on. I have had them in this location for over 3 years now. On the shortest winter days, they probably only get about 5 hours of daylight (not always sunny) and will still come on just before daybreak 95% of the time.

Question 5

I live in Michigan. Can the unit handle rain and snow?

We don't get snow here, but we get a lot rain sometimes.  I have ordered these on 2 different occasions.

They are easy to install and put our a good amount of light.  I wish they stayed on a bit longer.

One that we had mounted outside somehow got water inside where the light was and quit working.

It would be nice if they lasted longer,  seems like they eventually quit working, but some have worked for a long time.

If you can mount it under an eave it would be better.  Most of mine have been mounted inside our barn.

Question 6

What is the lumen rating for this fixture?

I am not sure.  It is not much. We used it to illuminate a short section of walkway where there was no power available.  I  would say it lights a 10ft section of sidewalk from 10ft away.

Question 7

Bought two, one of them has failed. At night it always stays on, even without any motion/movement. HELP! Defective?

The light should not stay on. It should only be on for about 30 seconds. I have 5 of these lights and that is how they each work. I would take the batteries out then put them back in to see if that helps, else, I would seek a replacement.

Question 8

What "open-circuit" voltage does the solar panel produce at the connector with the cells at 90degrees to the sun (directly facing the sun) and in full sunlight (preferably at about noon during a summer month)?

(note: "open-circuit"=with NOTHING but a high-impedance voltmeter connected (e.g. a quality DVM and not an analog meter))?

Using my DVM, with panel turned directly toward the bright mid-day sun, peak of 6.85 volts, dipping to 6.75 or so.
