will this allow me to play movies from a surfaceRT to my HDMI capable TV ?

Hi Don, My guess is that since the surface is so thin, it probably has a mini Dispay Port and you'll need an adaptor that goes from D-port to HDMI. (Surface Mini DisplayPort HDMI AV Adapter) Then you'll probably need a M-M cable to go from the adaptor to the television. Purchase the mini DisplayPort HDMI cable first or investigate online to see what the other end is (male/female, mini, micro, normal HDMI), then see if you need to purchase another cable to go from that adaptor to the television. You may not need an extra cable. Your television should use a regular sized HDMI connection on that end. Once you have it connected, change the source on your television to that HDMI device as an input. Then play something on your Surface screen. You should see it on your television. Good luck.
