Will this work for a headset that has a plug for sound and a plug for the microphone? Do i need to use 2 of these?

This is just one cord with one connection on each side of the cord. If your headset has the mic and sound split, and you are trying to plug your headphones into a device with separate mic and sound plugins, then you will need two of these cords, since you would need a mic/headphone splitter thing to take advantage or sending both signals through this one wire.

How long is the cable, in feet?

You're in luck, because it's still hooked up to my computer, even though I'm not using it. I measured it and the overall length is about 81 inches. I think I can see a 2 something on the package so it might be that the cord is two meters, which is about 6 1/2 feet. And then a couple more inches for the connectors. James
