Cable does not conduct audio. It does show red light on the output. Conducts white line OK.
Tried unplugging and replugging several times.
Another cable (unclad plastic) worked fine.
Relatively straight run. No tight turns. Connects Samsung TV to Sony receiver.
What should I do next?

You should check your receiver settings to make sure your Toslink connection is re-directed to the TV setting. In most cases, HDMI would be the standard connection that would bind to the TV setting. You just need to make sure the Toslink is bound to the TV setting on your receiver configuration
