Does item come loaded with Windows 7 or 8?

It does not come with Windows, there is a linux OS on it.  Right now I'm actually having issue loading other Linux distros to the system  Video drivers are a problem right now.

OpenSuSe didn't find any video drivers, so I'm trying Ubuntu.  The system seems sluggish because of the lack of a decent video driver.

Question 2

I need a computer to connect this to my 1080p LED tv. (1920x1080 resolution)
Will I be able to use this unit for this purpose?

I don't play any games on it..
Just gonna use it to download movies and stream some videos.

Will this unit be adequate for this use?

Yes. It works great. I'm using it for the same thing. I've had no problems. I connect to the internet through WiFi connection to my Asus "N" router. I stream movies from NetFlix, Youtube and XBMC's streaming channels. I'm running the stock 2 gig memory. It's quite and it works. Get a remote keyboard. I added a external hard drive also and watch movies/TV from it. My version cane with a linux version OS. I wiped it and installed win-7 84 bit.

Can I put My own copy of windows 7 on this?

YES
and it will work great.
DO NOT install drivers for your video card from Acer website, it will ruin the sound over HDMI
install drives from Intel, should be fine.
also, if you put an SSD in there - it will make this unit fly. I use it for home media PC and have not had any issues playing any video

i need a computer for my crossfit to run an application for wodify.  see their requirements below.  can this computer do that?

-dual HD output capabilities (I.e. 2 HDMI outputs or 1 HDMI and 1 DVI output) so the computer can be displayed with the 2 TVs. 
-need to have WiFi capabilities as well

This nettop will run 2 monitors.  In my situation, I have one plugged into the DVI port and the other in the HDMI port.  The only concern I have for you is that it is a Celeron processor.  so I your programs are memory hogs, the could run slow.  Normal windows runs fine.

what version of linux is installed?  I want only linux, ubuntu

Linpus Linux is pre-installed, but setup didnt work in my case, anyhow I installed Fedora 20 (nice) and it works great , if you want Ubuntu, then download the iso from the Ubuntu website and install Ubuntu.

Note: I used an external usb DVD drive, but you can use a bootable USB thumbdrive, if you dont have an external DVD drive.

Does the PC include an HDMI port? If not, what type of video port is included?

There is an HDMI port and a DVI connector. Included with the computer is a separate adapter for DVI to VGA, screws to use a VESA mount, a power brick, a USB optical mouse, a USB keyboard, and a hunk of plastic that was carefully packaged, but whose purpose eludes me. There is audio output through the HDMI port, so if you use the DVI/VGA for video you will need to output sound through the headphone jack. There are also 4 USB 2.0 ports, 2 USB 3.0 ports, an ethernet connector, a microphone connector, what appears to be a 9 pin serial port, and a flash card reader. The Linux distro included is terrible.

Will I be able install windows 7 to replace the operating system?

Yes. Windows 7 can be installed, version 32 or 64. Drivers are available at Acer support. It's best to download them to flash drive and use the rear ports to install the drivers after you install windows.

The card reader driver is (at present) missing on Acer Support Win7 page. Download the one for Windows 8 - They are the same file. If you can't find it Google : Realtek Card Reader Driver 6.2.8400.28124

Is the proccessor fast enough to play games?

I'm having problems getting sounds from external speakers. (Speakers work on other devices). I've plugged into the headphone jack and USB. Anybody else had this problem?

Can I hook this up to dual monitors?

Yes, hook up one to the DVi port, and one to the HDMI with a HDMI to DVI adapter

One of the reviewers, chardfi, mentioned to run an alternate version of Linux, they needed to updated the kernel. Does anyone know of a good guide of how to upgrade the kernel and/or how to install Linux Mint (given that this comes with Linpus)?

CentOS 6.4 distribution loaded easily.  Detailed instructions with screenshots (looks like it matches what I did) are available.  You can find the link (which cannot be included here) by googling for CentOS 6.4 installation instructions.  The one you want is at tecmint.
