Does anyone know if the 4GB that comes with this computer is one stick of 4GB or is it 2x2GB? I wanting to upgrade to 8GB but need to know what's in it already.

Does  have a CD Rom  DVD , and is icompatable with a Lexmark printer?

It has a dvd drive, so it should be just fine with a cd as well.  I've used this drive to install software from a cd already and it worked great!  Nice & fast.

It should be compatible with a Lexmark printer.  Just make sure you have an updated driver for windows 7 - 64 bit.  Sometimes, if a printer is too old, there can be a challenge with drivers.

I'm very pleased with these computers so far.  I got 4 for my work office. They were easy to set up, easy to delete (or not even install) the bloatware and easy to network.  They've been wonderful!

its just a straight dual-core pentium, 2.9GHz, 64-bit processor... 2 cores, 2 threads... a simple, entry level system...

I have two SATA HD's from other computers I would like to put in this case, is there space?

Plenty of room for drives, but no SATA cables - so you'll need your own. There are SATA sockets on motherboard.  Also there are power connections too.  Good luck

what, if any, software comes pre-installed? any office applications (word, outlook, excel?) I'm looking for some of the basics for my parents use.

On the Windows 7 side (as delivered), an Office trial comes installed, as well as a Nero software bundle for the DVD burner.  If you install the included Windows 8, you lose the Nero (although it might be available as a download from Acer.  I haven't checked).

No, but you can add a USB WiFi adapter, or better, and internal adapter card plugged into a PCI slot.

I have two mons - one in the dvi one in the hdmi with an adapter, haven't used the display port port but understand they are supposed to support 4 mons...don't know if that means you can run 6 at a time or not...don't know how to use the display port yet, there must be a multi outlet plug or something since they claim one port can run 4 devices
it was tricky to find an adapter for the hdmi port that would physically fit next to the dvi plug- my monitor cables were dvi so i had to convert from dvi to hdmi for that one

According to the datasheet on the Acer website ; 1PCI-E X16 slot, 2PCI-E X1 slots, and 1PCI  slot.

I'd be wary of trying to upgrade to a PCI-E video card without upgrading the power supply as well, it's only 300W.
