This system, and the CPU, like almost all Intel CPUs produced in the last seven or more years, is 64-bit capable.  The preinstalled OS is 32-bit Windows 7.  Since a 1GB window of address space is reserved by the hardware, that means only 3GB of the included 4GB is usable.  Install a 64-bit version of Windows 7 and you get to use all of the memory.

This machine will be used as a home file server.
Does the system BIOS support hard drives with a single 4 Terabyte partition?  I plan to install linux in the system, so Windows limitations are not an issue.

The monitor connection is the standard 9 pin video cable.

It supports WLAN with an external WLAN device.

The DVD drive is read only.

the dell optiplex 745 64 bit can use 8 gigs of ddr2 ram and a
low-profile PCIe x16 graphics card -(H: 2.5" X L: 6.6")  can be used but you may need to install a larger power supply, about 400 watts.
depending on the video card power requirements.
