What disks does are shipped with this computer ? Does it come with 64 bit that can be installed .

It's a bare bone CPU. Only Windows 7 is installed on the hard drive. No other software. It's a dual processor 64-bit system. It has a 80GB hard drive with 2GB of RAM. This PC is suitable for surfing the Internet, word processing, etc. It's not a gaming or video editing PC. It's a great value for the right situation. Hope this helps.

Do these units come ready to operate?

Yes, It is like buying a new Computer, When you turn on, it will say Loading Operating System (OS) for First time use. After It installs the OS, you will need to get all the Updates for the OS. After that you are ready to go, remember these were office Computers that have been cleaned and parts replaced (refurbished) you are NOT buying a new Machine, while Parts may be new, the Majority is Used. The Case itself is/was in Decent Shape, but Shows signs of USE.

not exactly, you may install 2 hard drives, it has 3 SATA so you could even install three drives, it has 2PCI extension and one PCI-E which depending on what you wan tto install from it, would be useful just because the space inside. I install a USB 3.O using this PCI-E and work very decently with enough speed.

Does this unit have a built in wireless capability?

No it does not. I purchased a usb wireless adapter and it installed flawlessly and works like a champ. I ordered the On Networks N150MA-199NAS N150 Wi-Fi Micro Adapter, got it free with rebate.

Question 5

If I want to connect this to a TV instead of a monitor...what will I need to get it done? Been looking at tons of cables and such, but no idea if they will work with this unit.

It has VGA on-board, Intel GMA 3000.

It entirely depends on what inputs the TV has.  If it is an old TV with an antenna/cable (F connector or 300 ohm screw terminals with a 300 ohm to 75 ohm transformer) input only, you will need a VGA to RF converter.  If however the TV is fairly recent, it should have Composite (yellow RCA) and S-Video (4-pin DIN) inputs, in which case a VGA-to-S-Video (or VGA-to-Composite) converter would be required.  If your TV is very recent, it should have an HDMI input, in which case a VGA to HDMI converter would be needed, but most TVs that have HDMI inputs also have VGA inputs, in which case all you would need is a VGA-to-VGA cable.
So, in order of preference:
1) If your TV has a VGA input, use a VGA cable.
2) If your TV has an HDMI input, use a converter.
3) If your TV has an S-Video and/or Composite input(s), use a converter.
4) If your TV only has an antenna/cable input you will need a converter - but really you should get a new TV.
All of those different types of converters are available on Newegg.  Search for them.

Would this be a good system for my kids to play games on? I don't wany anything expensive as they are only 8 & 10.

I purchased this computer as a replacement for a dying XP computer, to be used as a web surfer with no intention of downloading movies or music. It performs the surfing quite well along with some light word processing, financial processing and database use. I am also using an older version of a Microsoft Office, I had the full installation discs and the now deceased XP computer no longer needs this program.

For use as a gaming computer-One should first review the games you are planning to use to see what their recommendations are for a computer. There should be minimum requirements and there could be a higher recommended requirements of computing needs.

Gaming programs have always been some of the toughest users of a computer's capacity.

Suggested monitor?

Honestly any monitor with a VGA connection will do. Obviously it should be of reasonable size - i wouldn't expect the onboard graphics to adequately drive extremely big screens or any of those new ultrawide  panoramic screens. But any regular 17"-25" monitor should be perfect.

For example, something like an Asus VE248 would be a great choice and still pretty affordable.

If you want something really low budget an Acer G196HQLb should still deliver a quality picture and decent build.

But honestly, you can't really go wrong with any lcd monitor for a budget desktop.

Question 9

is it compatible with and old Compaq monitor and does it have a dvd slot?

Yes, the PC does have a DVD reader. If you look at the pictures, you can see the DVD drive as the black rectangle in the upper left corner of the PC.

If your old monitor is a 15-pin VGA connector, this PC does come with a DVI to VGA adapter. I am currently using an older monitor that has a VGA connector with this PC.

Question 10

How many HDDs is this case capable of holding? Just one?

You can have two HDs in this case. They can be 2.5 or 3.5 inch. I kept the stock HD to hold data and bought a 128GB 2.5" SSD to use for the OS and programs. The SSD really makes this a quick, responsive system, although, the 80GB is pretty quick as mechanical HDs go. Just make sure to clone the stock drive to the SSD. You will need another SATA cable, if you add another HD. You can get those dirt cheap on ebay.
