Is this PC 64-bit capable?

Probably not ... it has 32-bit Windows installed (Pro, if I recall).

I don't think this is all that much of a liability. I use Photoshop and Lightroom, and they come with 32 bit and 64 bit versions.

Some specific software may come only in 64-bit versions. I think some of the Apple software might be that way.

The one I purchased is for my not-particularly-techie wife. I may replace the DRAM with a 4 GB stick.

BTW: It would be nice to use some spare 4 GB sticks and have 8 GB in the box, but I don't know if they would be used.

How many USB ports does it have?

2 in front and 4 in the back. Buy a large hard disk and install win7 from the provided cd before 1st boot

Does this computer have audio?

Yes. Internal speaker is OK for desktop environment.
Headphone/speaker & microphone jack on the front plus line-in & speaker jack on the rear. Works out of the box.

Can information from a Windows XP be transfered to this computer?

Question 5

I just received a unit (Order #149053769) 3 days ago and am happy with it.  I like to buy another unit. The product described above says scratch and dent are.

Question:  Minor scratches are cosmetic, but dents will interfere with opening the case to replace HDD and adding DRAM.  Do you have any units without dents and installed with Win7 pro 32 bit (I do not know how to install OS)?

Please notify me if you have the unit without dents in stock again.

I haven't installed the operating system or turned the computer on yet. The HP computer I received from Newegg was in very good shape as far as scratches and dents go. Minor dents should not be a problem for you. If need be you could probably gently tap them out.

As far as installation of the operating system, my HP came with 2 discs for Windows-7 Professional : 1 for the 32 bit operating  system and  1 for the 64 bit operating system. Apparently it sounds like you want the 32 bit system, so that's the one you will install. Before turning on the computer take a paper clip and un-bend it and look for a small hole in the vicinity of the DVD/CD-ROM Drive. Put the paperclip in the hole and push on it gently  yet firmly and the draw should pop open. Place the installation disc in the tray and close it back up. The last thing you need to have is the "Product Key". This is located on a label on the side or rear of the computer. Be sure to copy it on a piece of paper and when prompted at the beginning of the installation be sure to put it in correctly (Yes It Is Case Sensitive !!!).  That should do it. The computer comes with double data rate 2 synchronous dynamic random access memory (DDR2-SDRAM) dual inline memory modules (DIMMs).

Supported types are non-ECC PC2-5300 and PC2-6400 DDR2 memory. Supported maximum memory is up to 16 GB.

Question 7

I purchased this computer specifically because its operating system was listed as Windows 7 Professional 32-Bit.  My company utilizes software that is only compatible with a 32-bit configuration.  When attempting to install the software, I discovered that it was formatted with a 64-Bit format.  I have a product key, but need a license code to uninstall and then reinstall with a 32-Bit format.  Do I have the license key or can you provide it?  Will the product key suffice?  If not, I do not want to incur any further expense by having to buy the above promised software.  Can you help and how?  Thanks very much!

Not too sure about your situation but one suggestion would be to install the 32 bit OS as a Dual Boot- the Product Key might work for both versions. I have several computers set up as multi OS- on startup you are given the option as to which one to use.
Most of the time Microsoft issues Product Keys and License Codes locked into the specific OS purchased- another Key or Code would not work with your machine.
The computer I bought was for someone else and I have not gotten into it's workings much yet. I am very familiar with Window systems from Win3.1.1 up to Vista, but Win7 has a lot of changes which I have not dealt much with yet.

In the product image, it shows a PCIe parallel card, does (did) this come with the computer?

It sits in front of a slot but hooks to the motherboard.  Two slots have this going on.  If you put in a card you can take out if you do not need them.  PCIe 1 and 16 slots.  There is another PCIe 16 and a PCI slot.  Four SATA connections and a place for a second 3.5 Hard Drive.  Plenty of room in the case for a 2.5" drive or even a third 3.5 but no brackets for either.

Question 9

Can this machine be set up with duel monitors? I know some computers do not allow for it, because of issues with the video card, so I wanted to be sure before purchasing it.

It only comes with integrated Intel GMA 4500 graphics, so there's no way to physically attach more than one monitor. I'd recommend a low-profile (or low-profile ready) Nvidia or Radeon HD series video card. You'd need to consider your wattage though. Question 10

The product description says it comes with Windows 7 Professional, but the COA sticker on the case is Windows Vista Business.  Is there a Windows 7 Professional product key included?

The PC I bought in June had a Windows 7 Pro COA sticker on top of the Vista COA sticker.  Don't know when the upgrade was made, or if the upgrade was made to the whole batch, but Win7 registered with Microsoft just fine.
