can this take a 14500 lithium battery?

Justin B, My Weiita F64 came with 1.5 V AM-4 AAA LR03 Alkaline battery included. It also works well with the Duracell 1.2V AAA HR03 rechargeable NiMH I tried. I have no experience with 14500 lithium battery. Physically, it will probably fit if it is AAA-sized, but if the lithium battery delivers 3.7V, I would expect it would exceed the voltage the CREE XP-E LED is designed for. Even if it does not damage the LED, the higher voltage would probably change the character of the light emitted. Probably best to check, first, with CREE website for Family Data Sheet for characteristics ( url not allowed in this message). Best regards,

Is the lens made of glass or plastic?

According to the user manual it is glass. The lens is recessed 3/32 inches from the end of the stainless steel case so it should be immune to most damage. Really bright light - rated at 120 Lumens and is shipped in a metal presentation case.
