How's the noise level?

I had this in my office and no problem talking on the phone normally. Personally I think it is a gentle white noise, may be borderline in room at night for me but I am extremely picky and can't stand noise when I sleep.

Instructions say to reduce thermostat until unit turns off.  Even with thermostat turned all the way down unit does not turn off.

Should power knob be set at 1 when using thermostat or should power knob be off?

Trying to maintain temperature of 40 in basement room.

The chaleenge I belkieve may be if you are setting the heater on the basement floor

warm air rises

if your basement is "close" to 40  degrees or colder

this little heater may not be able to meet minimun  heating expectation

thus it continually runs
or the thermostat is defective

my lasko will turn off after the room temperature is raised.
