Question 3

My laptop does not produce sound. It appears to have all the sound cards and software, but no sound.  I am told that this device will allow sound, is this correct?

Hi Andy. Yes, this should work well for you as long as there is a driver for your Operating System and unless you have something before Windows XP, your odds are good. The only concern is that if your laptop does indeed have sound cards and the correct software, it's possible that something else is blocking the audio stream and if so, it may also block the stream to this device.

Still, it's certainly worth the try and it's not an expensive way to find out if you can get sound back on your computer. Good luck!

Hi,  the rear port is not shaped like a spdif connector.  Do I need a coaxial digital connector for this?

It has a spdif line out on the back so I believe it's a 3.5mm to a digital optical connection.
