Will this work with Windows 8 Professional operating system?

Yes, I am using it on Windows 8 Professional computer attached to an HP printer. I used a USB to parallel adapter for several years on a Windows XP computer, with no loss in speed. As soon as I switched to Windows 8, the speed really slowed down (on 2 different brands of USB to parallel cables). I believe it is entirely to do with the printer drivers. If that is the case for you, you should really upgrade the printer. Windows 8 does not work well with old printer drivers, at least speedily. I have gone to a newer USB printer for regular printing, but I need to print checks using MICR ink. I don't need the speed for this setup, so using the old parallel printer for that function works fine for me as a 2nd printer. But Windows 8 with any printer older than 5 years seems to be very slow, regardless of cabling.

I want to connect my HP laser 5p to my AirMac. Will this cable work?

Hi, sorry cannot help with MAC products. I work on Windows computer. It worked like a charm, so I don't see why it wouldn't work.
