Does this drive require 2 USB ports for operation or can it function on one?

I also wondered about this. I saw other drives that require 2 ports, and I didn't want that either. This LG drive has, and needs, ONLY ONE port. It's a USB mini, which I am less than excited about, as they seem fragile and I have had trouble with them on other devices (to be fair, I had trouble with ONE other device). This drive has worked flawlessly for me so far. Additional note: slot loaders only load standard size media, not those novelty size tiny discs that some companies (TP-LINK !!) put drivers on.

is this scanner compatible with windows 7 pro?

Since it's a CD/DVD player and not a scanner, I'm going to say no.

However, since it has an eject button (something Macs don't support), then I would tell you that it is absolutely compatible with Windows 7, as long as you're looking for a CD/DVD player/writer.

My previous post is in error. Even though the info here under the Specifications tab claims otherwise, this drive does NOT read Blu-ray.

no, it is powered by usb.  make sure you plug into a powered usb, rather than an unpowered hub.

How much of the disk protrudes from the player when you eject the disk? (Building a project)

When a disc is ejected, quite a bit of it protrudes.  I just measured it at 2.5" exposed.  The entire center hole of the disc is visible.

Yes, I'm using with Windows 10 and Roxio 2015 for burning and it works well.

I have a laptop with one USB port available. It is a USB 3.0. will this product work in my laptop? Does it require two usb ports?

I believe it will.  You won't get the benefit of the faster throughput, but it should still function.  I have an old Western Digital MyBook that I connected to my desktop USB 3.0 jack and it runs fine.

can this work on windows xp and windows 7 computers and how fast does it burn dvds?

I use it on XP Win 7 Win 8 and Mac

I do little Burning Jobs (data transfers) and there are no delays. I have found nothing to complain about. I bought 5 and am using 2 myself and the other 3 are deployed. There are nothing to report negative about them.

What is the difference between this and the GP60NS50?

The two are very similar. The first differences I see are price and shipping. The 60 is just MS compatible. The 70 is also MAC if this matters. The speeds are the same for the most part, except for the added compliance offerings of the 70 model. As I see the user feed back the 70 does better. All in all, I chose the 70. More expensive but added extras.

I currently have Windows 8 and am going to get the upgrade to Windows 10.  Will this still work?

I have this Ultra Slim running on Windows 10 without any problems. 
It works fine for us because we have a slim, lightweight laptop without a built in DVD player.  This one is easy to use...
