    Scenario Description

Special rules for the scenario ensure that the only way to win is by the cunning use of force. Can you complete the Domesday Book and secure legal rule before your rivals? Use unique units for each faction in the scenario to claim the throne and stand the test of time!

    Denmark Ruler – Harald Bluetooth

Harald Bluetooth (920 – 986 AD) was King of Denmark for nearly 30 years. During his reign, he united the earls of Denmark and Norway, and defended his people from invasion from Sweden and Germany. Today he is viewed as a just and wise king of Denmark.

Sid Meier’s Civilization V: Civilization and Scenario Pack – Denmark is a downloadable Mac DLC for Civ V that adds Denmark, led by Harald Bluetooth, and the 1066: Year of Viking Destiny scenario. It suits Mac players who own compatible Civilization V and want new Viking-themed strategy content.

    Recommended For

    • Civilization V owners who want another leader and civilization for standard games, especially a Denmark play style built around faster coastal movement, amphibious attacks, and melee-unit pillaging.
    • Players who enjoy planning domination-focused campaigns on maps with coastlines, where Denmark’s embarked movement and Berserker-led attacks can support coastal raids and invasions.
    • Civ V players looking for a separate, historically themed 1066 campaign: the included scenario has four competing factions and emphasizes military tactics and control of the British Isles.
    • Scenario players who like replaying a fixed-map conflict from different sides; Steam player reviews describe trying the 1066 scenario with multiple factions.

    Real-World Use Scenarios

    • For a focused historical campaign, start the “1066: Year of Viking Destiny” scenario, choose one of four factions, and fight for control of the British Isles; victory centers on military conquest and completing the Domesday Book.
    • In a standard Civilization V match, choose Denmark when you want to move armies across water and launch coastal invasions; its faster embark-and-land movement can help troops reach shore with less lost momentum.
    • When playing a warfare-focused Denmark game, use melee units to pillage enemy improvements while advancing; Denmark’s ability to pillage without spending movement helps keep a raid moving.
    • For a defensive challenge in the 1066 scenario, play as the English faction and try to hold its territory against rival claimants; the preset conflict makes defending and fighting for cities the focus rather than building a new empire.
    • When you reach the medieval era and want a close-combat unit for a Denmark army, field Berserkers in place of ordinary Longswordsmen; their built-in amphibious advantage helps when fighting across rivers or attacking from the coast.
