Heron HD3130 Linear Imager Barcode Reader and 1D Scanner, USB Kit, Black - HD3130-BKK1B

The Datalogic Heron HD3130 is a corded 1D linear-imager barcode scanner with a USB cable and stand, designed for retail point-of-sale counters that need reliable barcode reading and hands-free operation with good-read feedback.

Recommended For

• Small or mid-volume retail counters scanning standard 1D product barcodes at close range, where a wired scanner and included stand fit the checkout layout.
• Cashiers who alternate between handheld scanning and hands-free presentation scanning, using the stand and Green Spot feedback to position barcodes.
• Businesses that want a USB-connected scanner for a fixed POS station, with the option to configure scan feedback and customize the scanner’s appearance for the counter.
• Retail staff scanning ordinary, high-contrast printed UPC and similar 1D labels, including labels that may be worn or scratched.

Real-World Use Scenarios

• At a retail checkout, a cashier can leave the HD3130 in its stand and pass 1D product barcodes in front of it, keeping both hands available for handling items and completing the sale.
• When an item is bulky or awkward to position on the counter, a cashier can lift the scanner from its stand and bring it to the item's 1D barcode; the review found its working range suited to retail handheld use.
• At a busy or noisy point of sale, staff can use the scanner’s Green Spot and configurable sound or lights to check that a barcode was read, rather than relying only on a beep.
• When standard black-on-white product labels are scratched or worn, a cashier can try scanning them at checkout; POSGuys’ tests found the Heron read the scratched and worn codes they tested, though results depend on the label.
• For a checkout near bright windows or used for an outdoor sale, the scanner can be used to read 1D barcodes in strong light; POSGuys reported successful reads in its simulated-sunlight test.
