Question 1

Can you use a combination of ps/2 and USB keyboards and mice? E.g., PC1=USB KB and USB mouse; PC2=PS/2 KB and USB mouse; PC3=PS/2 mouse and USB KB; PC4=PS/2 mouse and PS/2 KB. This is what I need. Also, if above is yes, do the master KB and mouse (the ones you plug into the ATEN CS84U) need to be the same or can (must?)be a mix of PS/2 and USB? (Could not discern this from reading the manual). Thanks.

Got th KVM to use with 4 PC used for testing Hard Drives.  Test bench has 3 Dell optiplex GX 270s and 1 Dell Optiolex GX280

The 270 use PS2 connectors for mouse and keyboard.

The 280 uses USB's for mouse and keyboard

It appears that Dell PC that use USB require seperate USB connectors, 1 for mouse and 1 for keyboard.

The 270's with PS2 work will this KVM swtich.  To use the 280, the single USB from the KVM switch runs the keyboard.

I have to run a seperate USB mouse connnected to the 280,

I have spent over an hour with Aten technical people. Have updated the BIOS on the 280. Problem still percests.

I have spent 3 sessions wiht Dell Technical staff. the 280 problem still persists.

I have replaced the Dell 280 with newer Dell PC's and the USB problem still persists.

Th Aten unit is well build and works well except for the USB problem.

yes it does- each cable is approx 6 feet long,and on the "computer" end, there are four "breakout "connectors:
