Does this cabinet lock need Wi-Fi, an account, or the app to work?
No. The RFID card and phone NFC open the lock over Bluetooth on their own, with no Wi-Fi and no account. The app is only needed to enroll a new card or add a user, and you can close or delete it afterward. No cloud in daily use.
What happens if the batteries die while the drawer is locked?
The lock releases itself once the batteries are fully flat, so you are never shut out. It runs on 2 AA batteries (not included) for about 5,000 openings, plus 100 more after the low-battery alert. Removing the batteries by hand will not trigger it.
Is this a safe? Can I use it to store a firearm or valuables?
No. This is a privacy and child-safety lock for furniture, not a safe. It is not rated for firearms or ammunition and is not fire-resistant. It keeps children, teens, guests and pets out of a drawer or cabinet; it will not stop a determined break-in.
