The Thermaltake GOrb II Classic (CLN0040) is a compact, USB-powered laptop cooler for people who want portable cooling and a raised typing angle; it is listed as suitable for 10- to 17-inch notebooks and weighs 285 g.
Recommended For
- Laptop users who regularly work or travel away from a fixed desk and want a small, packable cooler instead of a full-size cooling pad.
- People who type for long sessions at a desk and want to raise the laptop’s rear for a more inclined keyboard and screen position.
- Laptop owners whose intake vents are on the underside and can be positioned above the GOrb II’s fans; reviewers found cooling depends on how well the fans line up with the laptop’s vents.
- Users with limited bag or desk space who want a compact stand with USB-powered fans and a USB pass-through rather than a wide cooling platform.
Real-World Use Scenarios
- When commuting or working in different locations, a user can pack the GOrb II instead of a full-size cooling pad; it raises the laptop while taking up little bag space, though setup requires placing its two supports beneath the laptop.
- During desk work or typing, a user can place the two supports under the laptop’s rear area to create a raised angle; this can make the keyboard position feel more comfortable and leave more space beneath the laptop for airflow.
- When a laptop runs warm during extended work or gaming, the GOrb II can add airflow underneath, but the cooling benefit depends on how its fans line up with the laptop’s air intakes; one review found only a small temperature change in its test setup.
- At a shared desk or in a quiet room, a user can run the cooler while working; a reviewer described its fan noise as unobtrusive in their setup, although perceived noise may vary with the laptop and surroundings.
- When the laptop’s USB port is in use, a user can power the GOrb II and connect another USB device through its pass-through port, avoiding the need to give up that connection for cooling.
