Do the handsets on this system allow connection of a headset?

Due to my disagreement with NewEgg my reply is, "only if you make a purchase will there be any satisfaction."  Then and only then will you know.  With a few happy surprises.  Learn to be adventurous about where you are to go and what you are to do . . you will never know enough to know you have made a good decision or not. Can multiple handsets be used at the same time (on the same call, of course)?

Yes, just like any other cordless phone system.  Moreover, the system will support two simultaneous calls: a landline call on one or more handsets, and a simultaneous cell call on one or more other handsets.  While you can pair the system to two different cell phones, you can only operate on one cell phone at a time (so you can't run two simultaneous cell calls on this system).

Does the base unit have a battery back-up in case of power failure?

Yes, as long as you leave the handheld unit on the base unit. The base unit uses the handheld battery. So you can use the speaker on the base unit or the handsets. Just don't remove the handset from the base!

I would need to mount the base unit on the wall but it seems awkward for this, has anyone done this successfully?

I have the base unit mounted on the wall.  It really isn't any more awkward than other phones I have had.  In fact, the Panasonic replaced another cordless base unit on the same wall mount.  It hasn't been a problem mounting it that way.

Does/will this phone work with an iPhone 4s? (have read complaints that it does not, although listed as compatible)?

Yes it does. However, having said that there are some other aspects of it that I am not so keen on. For example, it appears to be a little more flimsy than other models we use and the speakerphone mode on the handsets suffers from more feedback problems than previous models. Frankly I would not buy this model again.

What is battery life like?  Has anyone had to replace a battery pack and how hard was it to find replacements?

Have used for as long as 1 hour without battery running out and have left unused off charger for days without battery running out.  So, I do not know exactly what battery life is since I have never had a battery discharge completely on any of these phones.  I have only had it less than a year and have not had to replace battery but have never had a phone that I could not find a replacement battery for and doubt this would be a problem

do the handsets have headphone jacks?

Yes, there is a headset jack located on the side of the handset. (I have never used mine, so can't say whether it works or not.)

More importantly, perhaps, is the phone's Bluetooth capability. I have an ATT Z998 cell phone and pairing doesn't work with the Panasonic system. I think the Panasonic uses an obsolete version of Bluetooth.  Hence, if you want to use the Panasonic with your cell phone, as I did, you should verify compatibility before purchasing!

This phone is everything that I want but I cannot find out if it has a land line input also. I have land line and want to connect two cell phones also.

Yes, it has a land line input via the RJ-11 connector.  I use it with a VOIP adapter but you can connect POTS line as well if you still get service via copper.

We often have both Android phones connected while the VIOP is also always connected.

The power supply for the base uses a modified connector similar to the phone RJ-11, so it's not easily interchangeable.  If it's not long enough, you'll need an electrical extension cord to plug into the transformer end.

These are new and very nice.  These have talking caller ID and the ability to block (Blacklist) unwanted private, out of area numbers as well as let you block individual numbers.

Mine was. Unless it is listed as refurbished I would assume it is.
I was generally happy with my unit, but it turned out cell service at my home is so poor this device really didn't work for me. The problem wasn't the Bluetooth headset but the cell phone and cell service. When paired with a better phone it worked ok.
