can the base unit be wall mounted?

The base unit as well as the hand-sets can be wall mounted, the base unit comes with a bracket that the unit fits onto as shown in the manual on page 64. The manual can be accessed on the Panasonic web site.

What color is the base and phones?  They look white in the ad.   John

They have a silver face with a white back, same with the base and answering machine they have a silver top (face)  and a white base.
Hope that helps. Mine replace and older set of panasonics. I was surprised when the remaining 2 headsets from the old set that still worked were able to Sync with these, easy as 123.

Are batteries included?

Yes they are. AND the batteries are Ni-MH AAA not an OME battery pack only available through the manufacturer. Basically, you can use any 2 AAA batteries in a pinch if you need to.

Yes, each handset has speaker phone. I haven't tried all the features, but so far am very happy with this set.

Yes it does. It comes up on the display screen when in talk mode. To the shopper looking to buy this item, I have had mine now for over a month and am very pleased with it. I really like being able to link my cell phone (don't have to carry both around the house). Newegg has the best price and fast shipping.

Yes, it does have speaker.  Bottom button on the right on the base.  Bottom button on the left on the handset.

Is the battery that is used in the phone rechargeable ?

I got my phones in October, and so far I am very happy with the sets.  Not only do all the phones get recharged in their own base, but I have forgotten to put the phone back in the base for several hours and it still recharges very quickly.  I particularly love the feature where the phones will tell you the number or name of the person who is calling before you even look at it. Very easy setup.  Once the main base is plugged into the phone line, all the other bases start working as soon as you plug them in the outlet.  I have one in every room and have moved them around just to find the most convenient arrangement.  I'm glad I made the purchase.

How does base mount on the wall?

First you install the included wall mounted adapter to the base unit
then you have to hang the unit on a nail/screw attached to the wall where you desire to place the unit. I didn't use the adapter, I just sat the base unit on a table.

does this model have 2 lines?

No and yes.  It only has one traditional land line.  But it also provides for two additional lines that can be connected by by bluetooth (plus a bluetooth headset).  Cell phones connected by bluetooth will, if you want, ring on these units.  You also can call out on these handsets using the bluetooth-connected cell phones, or using the land line if you have one.
