Pros: I have used the Nxxton products since the late 80's, but their effectiveness seemed to be going downhill while system bloat and costs were skyrocketing. When I spotted Panda on Newegg for just x, I thought I'd give it a try. What a difference! It quickly removed all the spyware that Norton had only been able to quarantine, then found a bunch more that Norton had missed. It has been finding and deleting threats ever since, without interfering with my computer work. The Panda program has a solid, reassuring feel that I never got with Norton, and provides me with clear concise summaries of its activities.

Cons: Minor, but...Occasional strange pop-ups stating my firewall security is low - This started after I assigned Firefox the same ingoing and outgoing permissions that Panda assigns to Internet Explorer. After a few minutes Panda then decides my firewall security is okay. A little wierd, but...

Overall Review: It's nice to have a solid, affordable alternative to the offerings of the Biggies, who seem to have decided to focus more on profits than performance.

Pros: UPDATES DAILY not weekly. Don’t need to have other software to find adware or spyware. It doesn't use as much system resources as other brands. Full system scans are generally faster. I have installed Panda on MANY computers (I do computer tech work). This software USUALLY works great. But there are those times, see "Cons:" and Other Thoughts for explanations. Remember too the newer versions of about ANY anti-virus software will usually take more system resources then the previous version. This is part of the features added and the way they scan & detect problems (viruses, adware, spyware, ect.) this is part of the facts of computer life. Also the Help section (upper right corner) is good. You do not have to install the “Web Content Control” (parental control) if you don’t want it. The default setting is to install it later after everything else is installed and setup. Of all the Anti-virus software this is what I use and recommend.

Cons: The bare requirements for 2006 Panda Internet Security are "300 Mhz Processor, 128 MB RAM, 160 MB free space on the hard disk, Windows XP/Windows 2000 Pro/Windows Millennium/Windows 98. Internet Explorer 5.01 or later." Remember this is the MINIMUM and the system will run on and it will be slow, BUT it would with any thing else you install. Face the facts; it's time for a new computer. I have installed it on systems with 450 - 800 MHz processor and had it run slow. I have installed it on 450 – 800 MHz processors and had it run fine. A lot has to do with computer setup to how fast it will work; this is the same with all brands. It doesn't like Win98 or ME with slower processors and minimal ram, but neither does any other name brand. I have installed many of them. Check the minimum requirement before you buy any software.

Overall Review: Panda Internet Security has Web Content Control (parental control) which is not 100%, but nearly, and no other brand that I have worked with is 100%. You can also schedule system scans, use the Help section. Parental control has filters you can customize (use Help after you install). When you first install Panda it may run slow, it is setting things up (updating and running checks), give it some time and do a full system scan. It may take three or four restarts to get things running normal. This is the case with most other brand too. You MUST uninstall any previous version of anti-virus software (any brand). There are times when the uninstall doesn't remove all files (facts of computer life) and Panda will tell you to remove previous AV software, (after you already ran the uninstall), if this happens search for the file "avdetect" (it should be in a temp folder) and delete it. I also go in to the settings and set it to scan compressed files and all extensions. Use the Help section.

Comments: I've been able to detect a lot more Spyware and Adware with this product it makes inital boot up process but thats because it scans your system before windows loads itself pretty pleased and I was a die hard Norton IS person glad I tried it

Pros: I run a computer solutions store and I cannot say how much Panda has meant to our business. The software outperforms Norton and McAfee hands-down. The others "may" use less CPU but the tradeoff is that they don't do their job. Panda's software is VERY effective in removing in minutes the malicious software that used to take us hours to remove. We bill for less time, but our customers are happier and in turn our business continues to increase.

Cons: What cons? The only con is that such software is required in the first place--but that is not Panda's fault.

Overall Review: If you own or operate a computer business, Panda's software can save you time and make your customers much happier because they don't feel like a problem has been removed only to turn around and get reinfested a few days later as would happen with the other "Security" products. Happy customers=good business.

Pros: Probably the best virus program I have used to date. Does a great job of keeping the comp running clean

Overall Review: @aceross....dude, if you are still running ME, that is your problem. That is the worst operating system ever made. You really need to upgrade to xp, but with a clean install.

Pros: The Panda Security Suites have always been well above average in terms of virus, firewall, spyware, adware, malware, and even other protection aspects never looked at before from other antivirus venders. This years Panda Platinum 2006 Internet Security Suite has been exceptional. It gives an administrator an awsome reporting snap shot for the web content filter and also for viruses, spyware, adware, malware and much more. Now the spyware protection on this years software is second to none I believe. I would recommend this to any user that really wants to control his or her pc environment in terms of security and protecting your love ones from the internet.

Cons: The Panda Security Suites have always been a bit complex to configure and this year is no exception. It still is! This is an issue Panda will have to resolve in the upcoming versions due to users not having the time nor patients. I only say this because I am a Network & Security Engineer and it has taken me some digging to get the software to run the way I wanted it to. But you see for me that is fine but for the average user it is unexceptable. I really love this product but if they do not correct this aspect of the software they will lose there current customers/users.

Overall Review: With all this said there is no other antivirus product that I would rather use than Panda Security at this moment and time. If there is better for the same price I will move on. But otherwise I have not been able to find any software that can compare for this price at Newegg.com... PROTECT YOUR FAMILY FROM THE INTERNET, USE WEB CONTENT FILTERS OR OTHER SOFTWARE LIKE IT THAT HAVE THIS ABILITY. CHILDREN DON'T KNOW BETTER SOMETIMES AND CAN BE EXPOSED TO BAD INFORMATION ONLINE!!

Pros: It is good at detecting viruses, more than Ive seen with Mcafee

Cons: Ive installed this at work on 10 computers. On faster newer computers its fine, however it wont allow 2 slower computers to boot. When I unistalled Panda they work properly. Now these computers arent dinosaurs, they have 128MB and use XP.

Overall Review: buy some RAM with it
