A squeal or high pitched noise is not normal.  We purchased four of these for our department.  One had to be returned under warranty for random pixels flashing in and out.  Customer service with Planar  was a very good no hassle experience and would suggest you contact them for repair.

Question 2

Does every PLANAR PXL2790MW have some kind of high pitched whine coming from the rear of the monitor as many people write? I'm very impressed with this monitor but this defect tells me stay away from buying of this monitor :(

I don't know about "Every" PLANAR PXL2790MW but mine does. BUT only when it is in sleep mode. When it's operating with the display on there's no noticeable whine. To silence the whine when it's sleeping simply turn it off.

It sounds a lot like inductor coil whine. Could be cheap components, could be shipping damage, could be a lot of things. Basically this monitor has been a great addition to our 27" iMac. Color and performance is great. We're willing to put up with a little whine when it's at rest.

Is the screen glossy?

Yes the screen is glossy, however thie panel is bonded to the glass to reduce reflections.  I looked for a non apple glossy monitor for a long time that had the 2560 by 1440 reputation and this is what I chose. Great performing monitor. Absolutely love it. Super bright colors.  Sleek glass with none of the Matte appearance I really dislike on most monitors.

Question 4

Is the screen considered full glossy like the Apple Cinema Display or just Semi-Glossy like the Samsung S27A850D?

I'm hoping its full glossy, crossing fingers and toes. :)

The entire front face of the monitor except the lighter bottom strip in the picture is definitely glossy.

Although I cannot speak to "full glossy versus semi-glossy" as you describe as I've never owned a monitor that was pitched as "semi glossy".

But it is pretty shiny and definitely not a matte finish.

Hi! Many people say that they've had a very good experience with interacting support team of Planar. But I have to say that I had not. It's been already about a week, but there is no answer from Planar support. Hmm, isn't it a little strange? What do you think?

Its a great monitor, but bear in mind you need to use a compatible cable to do the full 2560x1440 resolution. It comes with a Dual Link DVI cable and Display Port cable, but you'll need to be sure your machine can output the necessary signal.

I know this monitor has multiple input options, but can I hook up two different computers (say, one through DVI and another through the HDMI) and switch between them using the button on the front? Thanks.

I haven't tried it but virtually all monitors can accept multiple inputs from multiple sources.

Will this Planar PXL2790MW work with my Mac Pro 10.8.5 OS at the advertised screen resolutionof 2560 x 1440 and will use just one Mini DisplayPort?

Yes, I'm using it at full resolution with a MacBook Retina with one miniDPDP cable (not included, also works with an m/f adapter).  The speakers don't work automatically, but they do work over the DP cable-- you'll just need to select them in your system settings.
