I've read that this GPU will not work with Windows 8. Is this true?

This card does work with windows 8. I used it for about 5 months running windows 8 before I switched to Linux Mint 16. It also works with Linux.

Question 2

The spec says 400W power supply, 12V at 20 amps.
Most power supplies in the 400+ watts have TWO 12V lines, each at 18 amps.  Would that work?  Or do I have to find a PS that has a single rail at over 20 amps?

That should work. I used a website called pcpartpicker and found a power supply with two 12V lines rated at 18A each and when I put the power supply and this graphics card in the basket, it said there were no known compatibility issues present. But if you absolutely wanted to avoid any issue, just bump up the wattage on the power supply to at least 550W or 600W because those power supplies seemed to have 12V lines rated over 20A when I was searching.

how many monitors can I connect to this card?

I connected 2, 1440 X 900 monitors with this. good for editing photos, etc. Not the best for multi-monitor gaming. Currently have one of these in a 1920 X 1080 monitor.

Question 4

I have a problem....My computer is limited by a PCI-e 1.0 slot. I currently have a GT440 from Galaxy in it. I want to squeeze more performance from this unit because I cannot afford a new one at the moment. Does anyone know if I should get this card or wait it out until I can afford another unit?

Hello Kenneth,
I would wait until you upgrade you set up. If you put a PCI express 3.0 ito any lower PCI slot, the card will not function to its capabilities. Although most PCIE slots are backwards compatible, the card will be bottle-necked by the lower PCI slot. Hope I was of some help.

what kind of monitor works with this? i'm stumped

I'm using one Acer GN246HL for 3D ( for gaming, video, etc), and an old 22" Dell monitor. Any DVI monitor will work as long as it is either DVI-D or DVI-I.

I'm building a custom gaming PC, and was wondering whether it would be better to buy this card or the MSI model? (both have the NVIDIA GEFORCE GTX 650ti onboard)

This card is comparatively tiny which is nice. Check which connections they each offer as this may be of concern.
