What is the fan shroud of this card made of? is it plastic or metal?

The shroud is built of a very hard plastic, and the card is built like a tank. I wish I would have ordered two of them.

Question 2

Will a 860w 80 plus platinum psu be able to power two of these cards in SLI? If so, how much headroom will I have for extras?

In theory , yes.
  In practice,.....not for long
Headroom will be in short supply, running a power supply at or near maximum, is not a good idea , I am using a 1000 watt Power supply, and  just barely squeak by on headroom. Be smart, over build on the power supply, the more the better!

can this card do triple monitor gaming for games that arent too demanding?

It mostly will depend on the game, I'm running a triple monitor ultra hd setup mostly playing mmorpg games, but on some games had to run it in medium or high settings. If you are running a standard hd monitor setup I would think it should be good to run on high or ultra. It is a really nice card I am still using it and I have had it for about 6 months have found no reason to upgrade yet.

You should have no trouble, assuming that you have the necessary dual 8-pin power connections.  I'm running a system with this card, an i7-3770K, 8GB RAM, 1 standard HDD, 3 SSDs, and 2 internal optical drives with no issue.

Do I need dual 8 pin or can I use the 6+2 pin and 6 pin that my PSU already has?

How are the running temps on this gpu?

Absolutely fantastic. Currently idling at around 24F, and maxes out in the 50-60F range. Best built card I have ever owned.

Question 7

Would like to use these in a 2, 3 or 4 way SLI setup. I hear they take up 3 slots worth of room (vs the normal 2). Is there room to possibly run 4 of these in an EVGA Z97 Classified or a Gigabyte Z97 G1?

I don't think so bud, they are pretty bulky. I tried installing 2 on MSI z87-g45 and had difficulties.

Can this card drive more than one 2560x1440 monitor? How many total?

Yes. I have three Dell U3012 monitors that are each running 2560 x 1600 without any issues. Note, if you want to use DVI for all three you will need an DisplayPort to DVI adaptor as it only has two. Or you can use the HDMI but I wasn't able to get it to get nvidia surround working with that interface.

I am working on my new future proof gaming rig and I am stuck on what power supply I need to get. I want to SLI 2 GTX 780 Ti's with enough headroom to overclock the CPU, RAM, and maybe even the GPU in the future. I've been doing a lot of research and 50% of people say that an 860W PSU is enough but another 50% says you need at least 1000W's. I am trying to get a 80 plus platinum PSU that is fully modular. My choices are either Seasonic 860W platinum or 1000W platinum. I would even get a Corsair AX Series PSU but I have heard that they get coil whine under load but I am not a Corsair PSU expert so I don't know. I just don't want to overkill on a 1000W PSU when an 860W would be enough? Detailed answers would be greatly appreciated.

If you have the money, I would go with the EVGA SuperNOVA 1000 P2 80 PLUS PLATINUM. It has excellent reviews on all of the sites I have checked, and it also leaves you room for future additions/upgrades, not to mention overclocking. Also, this unit has a 10 year limited warranty.
