Will this work in a ROG G20?

Your mother board need's to support graphics card pc16 slot. And ROG boards are made for high end graphics so yes it will work but you need to have a power supply at least 750 watts I prefer 900 or more.

Can the firmware be updated to run in a Mac Pro? If yes, how does it compare to other options for Mac?

How loud is this? I've seen a lot of bad reviews on the Gigabyte blower card being really loud.

I don't have any exact number of decibels, but this card runs very quiet,  no coil whine or anything on mine. (Noticably quieter than my old GTX 650 Ti Boost) The only way it gets loud is if I manually increase the fan speed. Other 970 cards might be quieter since they have 2 fans, and this has 1 fan so it has to work a bit harder, but still overall quiet.

Question 4

PNY web site shows a different card with different connections, Is this an older version or newer version of the card?   Is the HDMI 2.0?

This is newer, and the HDMI spec is 2.0... HOWEVER, the big caveat is that since the standard was still new at the time of design, it is not accompanied by HDCP 2.2, which is necessary for driving any content-protected video at 4K/UHD resolutions. What this does mean is that you can use the HDMI to drive most of your gameplay to a compatible HDMI 2.0-capable monitor or television, and run at 4K 60Hz, with full sRGB colour (4:4:4, unlike the first gen Maxwell cards, which had to compress colour subsampling to 4:2:0). However, things like 4K video streams will most likely not work through that connector - You will have to use DisplayPort, since their 1.2 version is still loads faster.

Question 5

Will this fit in an Alienware x51 R1? I know the max size that can fit is like 9.5"

I don't know about the Alienware x51.  The card is just over 9.5"  If you have a couple of open drive bays at end of the video slot, it will probably fit.

How many heatpipes does the cooler have?

I think it has 4.  But regardless how many it has, it runs cool enough under a full load.  I've been playing the new Doom maxed out at at 2560x1440 and the highest the temp it has reached was 79 celsius.  The fan is very quiet as well.

Question 7

Would the card fit into an AMD prebuilt, smaller case? I assume the PSU would have to be changed out, but other than that, would there be any other compatibility issues?

What's in the box?  I've seen other PNY cards come with adapters.  I'm curious if it has a mini displayport to X type adapter.   The PNY website doesn't seem to acknowledge this card's existence.

In the box I received there was the graphics card, the installation CD, a DVI male to VGA female adapter, and a six pin female power adapter to a dual 4 pin male power adapter (old style - not SATA).
