External USB / eSATA to SATA HDD docking station.

Pros: Easy setup for Win XP and Win 7. Optional USB or eSATA connections allow for multiple platform connectivity. Allows you to use older SATA HDDs that are lying around and not being used. Use the older SATA HDD for archiving and then store it in a cool place. Keeps it out of a hot PC case.
Cons: Requires a 110 VAC power source, due to USB hardware limitations. HDD can come loose if the base is jostled or thrown around the room.
Overall Review: I bought this version after buying ORICO's USB only version awhile back, I needed the eSATA connection so I could expand my DVR capacity. Docked a brand new Seagate 1TB HDD to the DVR and so far been working fine. The docking station is on 24/7 for DVR access, so we'll see how long it lasts ...
Good alternative to wireless A/V transmitters where multiple floors / walls are involved.

Pros: Helps overcome the HDMI cable limit and requiring a heavy duty HDMI cable to keep out the electrical interference on longer runs that I have had to deal with in the past. Short on HDMI cables or too short of a cable? This can help make up that difference temporarily or for a more permanent setup. I have mine setup to run within 10 feet with one setup and another setup with +50 feet running from a downstairs bedroom to an upstairs room. Both my TV's recognize the HD signal whether it being 720P or 1080P, no real blur or pixelation seen, for example I am watching Hockey from my SAT / DVR right now while writing this and it keeps up with the action. If you ever watched a hockey game on TV, you know the camera moves a lot.
Cons: Have to be able to run the CAT cables through floors and walls which some may not be able to. Also depending your existing setup, your internal cabling like mine that was installed 20 years ago when I built on my house addition is too old to carry a good signal. Both units require a 110 VAC plug to run the transmitter / receiver units.
Overall Review: There are video reviews of similar devices that help show the functionality of these devices. They do specify that these devices do not separate the HDMI-HDCP decryption signal. The previous reviewer may not have known this and from the descriptions of the devices attempted, each one of those use HDCP. A HDMI splitter such as the ViewHD HDMI 1 x 2 splitter VHD-1X2MN3D is required be installed after SAT / DVR box and before this device.
Great capture card, but large in size ...

Pros: Had used ATI's video capture hardware for years and thought I would try out Haupp's Colossus capture card. I liked having the choice of composite / component / hdmi connection options. The software works well with the card and captures in 1080i as advertised. Make sure you have plenty of HD space to capture files in HD. Had for +6 months now and use it daily for capturing tv shows for the family. Windows 7 runs it great and never had to reboot for a lost signal or the card disappearing from the device manager (unlike some of the older ATI cards.) Software works well multi-tasking as well. Update Aug 2016 Have been running this software while having (3) screens active, (1) for WInTV only, (1) for my video editor and (1) for misc such as web browsing, file transfers, or running open office with a spreadsheet of shows edited, WinTV still running like a champ.
Cons: The card seems to me overly large for what it does compared to other capture cards. Between the mobo layout and my high end ram with cooling rails, this card really disrupted my video card upgrade plans. Capture software appears to have a memory leak, after running +24 hours or so wether it is capturing or not, it eats up the majority of the system RAM. Rebooting every few days seems to be the fix. Update Aug 2016 Turns out the memory leak was from my MOBO, once I got the BIOS lined out, I can leave the software on for days and have no problems. Sometimes, WinTV will go blank after a scheduled event, just closing and restarting the program fixes it,
Overall Review: I spent a little more money on this capture card because of the hdmi option and ended up using the component side now exclusively. HD programming looks great in the raw capture format and after being formatted for viewing on other devices. Update Aug 2016 I started having problems with the dongle that connects to the component cables to the card itself to the point where it would come loose or fall out of the card connector all together. I was using some heavy duty cables to insulate from signal interference. I have since switched over to the HDMI side for an easier and heavy duty connection. I am still using the component side from my SAT box at 1080, but I am now converting it to a HDMI signal via a composite/component/VGA to HDMI converter box that the card can use. The picture is much cleaner now and less cables to run behind my PC.
External USB to SATA HDD docking station.
![[Support UASP & 16TB] ORICO Tool-Free 2.5 & 3.5 in USB 3.0 to SATA External Hard Drive Enclosure HDD SSD Docking Station Horizontal Lay-Flat HDD Installation Design for 2.5 Inch & 3.5 Inch HDD SSD](https://c1.neweggimages.com/ProductImageCompressAll125/A1DSS211029YW8fC.jpg)
Pros: Easy setup for Win XP and Win 7. Great for backing up HDDs and transferring files from PC to PC. Got an older SATA HDD lying around? Dock it for archiving, then remove it and store it in a cool place. No need to keep the HDD active in a hot PC case,
Cons: Not much other than it requires a 110 VAC power source, due to limitations of the USB hardware. HDD could come loose if the dock it shaken or thrown around the room.
Overall Review: Got it on sale through Newegg and have enjoyed using it, a bit bulky but so are the 3.5 inch HDDs. I ended up buying ORICO's other version that takes both USB/eSATA for expanding my DVR capacity,
Acer 24" LED monitor

Pros: Looks good and a good deal for the price.
Cons: None.
Overall Review: "Nice large and lighted power button ..." you say? I have a Samsung 24' LED monitor on my other PC and it has that lousy flat panel "touch" button that hardly works when I touch, smack or whatever else I can do to get it to turn off!
