Exactly what I needed

ASUS Fan Extension Card
ASUS Fan Extension Card

Pros: Installation was pretty simple. Mounts in an optical drive bay so make sure you have room. Fans work as if they were connected directly to the motherboard.

Cons: At first, AI suite was not recognizing any fans connected to it, but the BIOS was. After restarting twice it showed up in AI suite and I could control the fans. Haven't had any problems since.

Overall Review: Using with an ASUS Z170-A motherboard. I'll be honest, I really didn't need this. But I got this card because I wanted to put as many fans in my case as it would allow, since I am a huge fanboy.

Great sound quality. Don't use with Asus motherboards.

Creative Sound Blaster Zx 116dB PCIe Gaming Sound Card with 600 ohm Headphone Amp and Desktop Audio Control Module
Creative Sound Blaster Zx 116dB PCIe Gaming Sound Card with 600 ohm Headphone Amp and Desktop Audio Control Module

Pros: Sound is amazing. Works really well.

Cons: A driver issue causes shutdown trouble in Windows 10 on Asus motherboards. What will happen is Windows will shutdown, but the hardware will still have power going to it unless you turn it off at the power supply. It will happen about 50% of the time at shutdown or restart. After doing some research, I found that a few other people were having this problem using this card with Asus mobos. There is a workaround that some people have been able to do, messing with the drivers and whatnot. However, it was less work for me to simply move this card into my girlfriend's build, where it works beautifully and buy a different sound card for myself. She has a prebuilt Acer that is a few years old.

Overall Review: I do recommend this card, but only if you are prepared to handle driver issues. If you aren't going to use a headset, then just opt for the sound card alone instead of the one with the control module.

Didn't work initially, but was able to fix all issues

ASUS Z170-A LGA 1151 Intel Z170 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.1 USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard
ASUS Z170-A LGA 1151 Intel Z170 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.1 USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard

Pros: Great BIOS interface. Was easy to update. Does what it's supposed to do. M.2 is beast.

Cons: One of the top USB ports is really a tight squeeze. Still works though. Had to clear CMOS in order to get a successful POST Had to update BIOS (possibly my fault due to pressing the MemOk button when I didn't need to)

Overall Review: Don't let this discourage you. If you are even a little bit tech savvy (or if you like fixing problems) you can solve the issues I came across (assuming they even happen for you). When I first got everything hooked up and turned my system on, it wouldn't POST. There were no LEDs on and only my heatsink fan and top case fan was spinning. I had to use a jumper cap to clear CMOS. Then boom. It tried to POST, but got hung up when it was checking my ram. At least it was getting somewhere. I used the MemOk button since the LED was flashing at me. Still wouldn't work. I had to move my DIMMs around but I finally got it to work. (I am using 2 DIMMS instead of 4). Turns out I did not have them in the correct slots since I misread the motherboard manual (my fault). Well after installing Windows and my drivers and all that, everything was going good. Except I noticed that sometimes when I would do a restart, Windows would not boot. I had to turn my PC all the way off and then it would boot just fine. I decided to update my BIOS since the manual recommends doing that after using the MemOk button. I did that and got a little nervous when my PC restarted 3 times and wouldn't finish posting right after the update, but on the 4th time it worked. Went into the BIOS and saw it was all updated. Booted into Windows and restarted a couple times to test and now it works fine. I do recommend this board. You probably won't have the same issues I did. But before you press the MemOk button, try moving your DIMMs around first.

Super fast, performs as advertised
